Held on Friday 19th October at Borderway Market on the evening prior to the Limousin Bull Sale at Carlisle, a Limousin Breeders’ Sale on behalf of the Normande and Clury Herds respectively, realised a top price of 5,000gns for the 2009-born in-calf heifer Normande Elisha.

Sired by the French-bred herd sire, Abel, an On-Dit son, and out of the dam Normande Valencia, Elisha was purchased for 5,000gns by Mr DA Geary, Darkley Road, Keady, Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland for his Montagne Herd. Sold with her June 2012-born heifer calf at foot, Normande Heidi, sired by Brookfield Elmo, she went under the hammer back in-calf to Roundhill Franz. The same purchaser had earlier snapped up the 4,000gns Normande Eliza, sired by Fairymount Arthur and out of the Scorboro Regius daughter, Normande Victoria. Again, she was sold with her Brookfield Elmo-sired heifer calf at foot, Normande Helga, and back in calf to Moloskey Claus.

Overall, the Production Sale from the Normande prefix for Cruickshank Normande Limousin, Cowford Farm, Cleghorn, Lanark saw 17 cows and heifers served and/or suckling realise £3,551 apiece.

Two further heifers also made 4,000gns. Heading to D Hillman, Rose Cottage, Rodbourne, Malmesbury, Wiltshire was Normande Embrace, by Fairymount Arthur and out of the Roughley Solomon-sired dam, Normande Varina. She sold with her heifer calf at foot, Normande Honesty, and having run with Moloskey Claus. The very next lot made the same money when snapped up by EL & W & CA Johnston, Horsemoor Hill, Uldale, Wigton, Cumbria. Once more by Fairymount Arthur, the 2009-born Normande Esme is out of Normande Morven. Making it another “three-lives-in-one” purchase, Esme was sold with her Brookfield Elmo-sired bull calf at foot, Normande Henley, and back in calf to the Irish-bred Moloskey Claus.

Heading the Clury consignment on behalf of Messrs WF Cruikshank & Sons, Clury Farm, Dulnain Bridge, Inverness were two lots at 2,600gns. The first of these heads to the Cadog Herd of Mr EA Davies, Pantmaenog, Llangadog, Carmarthenshire in the shape of the January 2010 in-calf heifer, Clury Flora, by Sultan and out of Clury Ultra. She was sold having run with the 11,000gns Maraiscote Fergus. At the same money was Clury Fern, by Tahitien and out of Clury Amanda, who sold again having run with Maraiscote Fergus to RW Cameron & Son, Wester Bonhard, Scone, by Perth.
