Nottinghamshire-based Paul Cairns of Plumtree Limousins is delighted to announce the sale of his March 2010-born Limousin bull Plumtree Fantastic to the Gunnerfleet herd of Ian Handley and family for £40,000.
By the noted sire Wilodge Vantastic, he is out of one of the herd’s most prolific cows Bankdale Amber, a Sypma daughter out of Princesse, who was the dam of the 35,000gns Plumtree Deus who sold in Carlisle February 2010.
Speaking of the sale, Mr Cairns said: “Fantastic is by far the best bull I’ve bred to date. He is a long, clean bull with tremendous muscling and second thigh as well as excellent locomotion. He is a lovely natured bull oozing style and character and has been a stand out in the herd since the day he was born.”
New owner Mr Handley added: “I was impressed with Fantastic from the minute I saw him, particularly for such a young bull having so much natural muscle and style. Having seen the dam, Bankdale Amber, as well as being impressed with Plumtree Deus who I was under bidder on last year, I had no hesitation in buying this bull. He will no doubt compliment the herd and we look forward to seeing progeny on the ground in due course.”
Mr Handley added: “Wilodge Vantastic is certainly proving his worth across many herds producing bulls with great length, depth and muscling.”
Fantastic will run in the 80-cow Gunnerfleet herd alongside Dolcorsllwyn Brynmor who was purchased in February 2008 at Carlisle for 32,000gns.
Fantastic will be going to stud for semen collection before joining the Gunnerfleet herd in Ingleton, Lancashire. Semen will hopefully be available for sale worldwide as of October/November this year.
