The production sale featured offerings from the Wilodge, Lodge, Haltcliffe, Goldies and Glenrock herds respectively.  Between them, these high-profile herds offered purchasers a catalogue of quality animals featuring some of the top bloodlines and genetics in the BLCS herdbook. Four animals in all made four figures or over with 23 animals in total making 5,000gns or more. Animals were purchased by new and established breeders from all four corners of the United Kingdom with Southern Irish buyers also featuring prominently. Overall the sale grossed a mighty £414,750 or £4,557 per head for the 91 lots sold.

The very first lot in the ring, Wilodge Flawless, made 27,000gns for C Williams, T/S DA Williams, Lodge Hill Farm, Park Lane, Shifnal, Shropshire.

An embryo calf, Wilodge Flawless is December 2010 born. Sired by Objat, she is out of the much-admired Wilodge Diamante, a Wilodge Vantastic daughter.  Carrying a top 1% Beef Value of LM+55, this heifer was purchased for the Poolehall herd of Mr & Mrs N Matthews, Applecross Farm, Alveley, Nr Bridgnorth, Shropshire.  The Matthews previously dispersed their Pyebrook herd when planning to move and farm abroad.  However, a change of direction saw them stay in the UK and establish a new pedigree herd.  At the sale they purchased three animals in all from the Wilodge offering including the Wilodge Cerberus-sired Wilodge Goldrush at 8000gns, and the Glenrock Ventura-sired Wilodge Fanelle at 7000gns. Speaking afterwards, Mr Matthews said: “I am absolutely delighted with these purchases to further establish the Poolehall herd. Each of them offers a combination of quality in themselves, combined with a depth of breeding, and top performance figures.”

Speaking after the sale, Nick Layton said: “Out of very good cow families, these choice females are the nucleus of a new joint venture with Dai Walters from Spring 2013 based at Usk in Monmouthshire. Together with the Lyonshall females, which we have gradually been expanding since 2005 using top AI bulls, the aim is to establish a 100-strong, high-health breeding herd of pedigree Limousins.”
