Pedigree and commercial buyers were out in force for the first Premier bull sale in the 2026 sales calendar, held at United Auctions, Stirling on Monday 2nd February. Trade was strong and robust from start to finish, with strong bidding pushing 18 bulls into five figure prices. The sale average was an impressive £9,692 up £2,359 on the year.

Confidence in proven and profitable Limousin genetics remains high with the majority of bulls finding new homes with commercial buyers. There was a strong selection of quality animals at affordable prices with 66% of bulls selling away between 4,000gns and 9,000gns.

Lot 353 Anside Vulcan sold for 20,000gns from the Irvine family, Drummuir, Keith.

Leading the way in top prices at 20,000gns was Lot 353 Anside Vulcan from the Irvine family, Drummuir, Keith. This July 2024-born son of Deveronvale Razzledazzle briskly went through the bids and now heads North to Mr and Mrs G and D McConachie for their Strathconach herd. His myostatin is F94L/Q204X.

Lot 306 Westhall Vince sold for 18,000gns from M Fotheringham and Hazel McNee.

Following closely behind at 18,000gns was Lot 306, Westhall Vince from the herd of M Fotheringham and Hazel McNee. This heterozygous black and heterozygous polled bull, born April 2024, caught the eye of commercial breeders W Walker and Son, Girvan, Ayrshire. This was one of three black bulls forward from the Westhall herd which averaged a fantastic £13,825.

Lot 312 Dyka Vulcan sold for 17,000gns from Messer J R MacGregor, Milton of Campsie, Glasgow

Two bulls hit 17,000gns. The first being Lot 312, Dyke Vulcan from Messer J R MacGregor, Milton of Campsie, Glasgow. This double F94L bull was born in April 2024 and is sired by the Lowerffrydd Empire son, Whinfellpark Ohagan. This flashy bull was picked up by commercial breeders W Steel and Co, Lanark. The MacGregor family had a strong pen of six bulls which sold to average £11,200.

The next in line to make 17,000gns was Lot 341 Goldies Vavavoom from the Goldies family, Dumfries. He was tapped out as the overall champion in the pre-sale show on Sunday under the watchful eye of judge Trevor Shields. Commenting on his champion, “The champion is a very true Limousin type, a really outstanding bull, He walks well, looks stylish and is a great example of what a Limousin bull should be.”

Lot 341 Goldies Vavavoom sold for 17,000gns from the Goldies Family.

This May 2024–born bull is sired by the herd’s successful stock bull, Ampertaine Opportunity, who also produced the overall champion at the October 2025 bull sales in both Carlisle and Stirling—both from the Goldies herd.

Along with his strong visual appeal, he boasts an outstanding pedigree. His dam is a full sister to the dam of Goldies Viscount, beef breeder champion at the Royal Highland Show 2024, who later sold for 32,000gns. This combination of style and breeding caught the attention of purchasers Mike and Melanie Alford, who now take Vavavoom home to Devon for their Foxhillfarm pedigree herd.

Lot 291 Glenrock Vamos sold for 15,000gns from Mr S and T Illingworth, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie.

Next at 15,000gns was Lot 291 Glenrock Vamos from Mr S and T Illingworth, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie. This double F94L bull was born in March 2024. He is one of the first sons to be sold off Glenrock Stillgame, who was reserve supreme champion in Carlisle in May 2023. He was a first prize winner and senior champion in the pre-sale show. He heads south to Mr R B Jones and Son, Montgomery, Powys for their Montgomery pedigree herd.

Lot 293 Wedderburn Vimto sold for 15,000gns from MR J K Hunter, Wedderburn, Huntley.

Two lots later also at 15,000gns was Lot 293, Wedderburn Vimto, from MR J K Hunter, Wedderburn, Huntley. Another double F94L bull, born in March 2024, he is sired by Ampertaine Jamboree. He heads north to Orkney with Mr W S L Muir.
