The Sale of Pedigree Limousin Bulls and Heifers held on behalf of the North West Midlands & North Wales Limousin Club at Welshpool Livestock Market on Thursday 1st November saw a top price of 4,600gns. Leading the trade was Ellesmere Gumph presented by AHM Lea & sons, an April 2011-born Uskudar son. This bull had stood second in his class to the Reserve Champion and sold to EG Edwards & Co of Bryncelyn, Dinas Madduy for 4,600gns.

Also selling well was the third prize bull Alwen Gari, another January 2011-born Uskudar son presented by Mr TLL & Mrs CP Wynne & Co, which sold for 4,000gns. This went to A Roberts & Sons of Dolan, Llanerfyl.

In the presale show judged by Mr Will Forrester of the Twemlows Herd, the Championship was awarded to Mr Andy Brown’s December 2010-born bull Cheekychunky Freddie, a Haughton Arkle son which later went on to sell for 3,500gns to G & I Roberts of Carreg y Fran, Betws y Coed. Freddie is the first bull Mr Brown has sold at Welshpool from his 8 cow herd based at Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

Reserve Champion was awarded to AG Kirton & Sons of Kinlet, Bewdley with Ashledge Gunsmoke, a March 2011-born Dolcorsllwyn Caio son, which sold for 3,000gns.

First prize female was presented by RW &MLL Williams of Corwen with Caenog Glen, an April 2011 Tunnelby Saturn daughter, which sold for 2,200gns to DG Pryce.
