Re: Limousin Spring Sales
Dear Member,
With the Carlisle, Stirling, Brecon & Ballymena sales just around the corner, I am emailing all Members with specific information on the individual sales as below. The Society, its auctioneers and our regional Clubs have been working closely together so that sales can still go ahead under different formats as the Covid-19 situation dictates.
Most of the sales are being run as private (non-Society) sales with the Society publicising a ‘virtual’ catalogue on www.limousin.co.uk and through its Facebook page. Many breeders are also marketing stock themselves either through their own website or social media – please direct message us on Facebook if you wish us to share your post. We also have a new Limousin Herd Catalogue function through www.taurusdata.co.uk allowing herds to create lists of animals for sale and then advertise them by region on the ‘Breeding Stock for Sale’ button on the Taurus homepage (more details below).

• Carlisle 1 – 5 May
Online Timed Auction under Society, Livestock Auctioneers Association & NBA Private Sale T&Cs.
The catalogue is available on www.limousin.co.uk for the Society’s Carlisle May Sale of 117 Bulls & 51 Females. This is a easy-to-use online timed auction with bidding opening Friday 1st May and closing Tuesday 5th May at noon. Prospective buyers can drill down into individual animal pedigrees, performance figures and see pictures and videos where available. Please note, prospective buyers will need to follow a simple registration process before they can bid. Full details on the Limousin website or on handh.auctionmarts.com. • Stirling 4 May
Catalogue (73 Bulls) available for viewing on www.limousin.co.uk
United Auctions are marketing Members’ bulls directly rather than holding the usual live sale in May. UA is drawing on the depth of knowledge and experience of its team to talk to prospective buyers with passion and understanding to directly convey the value and style of each bull. To further reassure both buyer and seller, these private sales will be on the basis of Breed Society rules, sale guarantees and the offer of insurance by NFU Mutual. • Ballymena 18 or 23 May – to be confirmed
The original sale date of 4 May has been postponed to either 18 or 23 May (subject to confirmation). The auctioneers, JA McClelland & Sons, are hoping to conduct a live auction of the 65 Bulls & 33 Females catalogued. Whilst maintaining social distancing rules, the market is working hard to incorporate a veterinary inspection, and for buyers to be able to both view and purchase stock. Vendors will be kept informed as the situation develops subject to breeding sales being allowed to go ahead, of course. Create a Limousin Herd Catalogue/Brochure on Taurus
Further to our recent email, a new Herd Brochure facility has been launched on Taurus. This enables you to put together your own herd brochure in the style of a sale catalogue. Its purpose is to provide information for prospective buyers that you can pull together for any animals at any time. The function can be accessed by logging in to www.taurusdata.co.uk in the usual manner. From ‘My Page’ click on the ‘Create Herd Brochure’ button and follow the step-by-step guide from there.
