First prized Limousin heifer calf, Foxhillfarm Unique topped Red Ladies for Mike and Melanie Alford as demand for top show potential genetics remains strong.
Foxhillfarm Unique, an embryo, Jan born calf with a NT821/Q204X myostatin was knocked down to Chris White, of the Frogmore herd in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire. Boasting an exceptional pedigree line the aptly named Unique is bred from Foxhillfarm Naomi who won all the major Limousin summer shows during 2019 as a two-year-old, including Female Champion and Reserve Overall at the National 50th Celebration Show in 2022, at Carlisle. Unique’s sire is an equally well bred show bull Foxhillfarm Lord of the Rings who was crowned the Royal Highland Champion and Junior Champion and Reserve Male Champion at the Limousin National Show in 2017. Lord of the Rings went on to be champion at the Carlisle October 2017 pre-sale show.
Second top price went to the 2nd in show Maraiscote Ubeauty, for J Nimmo, knocked down for 10,000gns to Messrs Bunting & Son, New Abbey, Dumfries. A double Q204X myostatin, she won Junior Champion at this years Stars of the Future 2023. Ubeauty is an embryo calf and the only heifer to be offered for sale from dam Maraiscote Gucci (grand dam Goldies Comet) and sired by Bassingfield Machoman.
Sarkley Urmadel topped Chris Pennies pen of heifer calves, at 6,000gns. A natural calf with a myostatin NT821/ Q204X sired by the notable Plumtree Vantastic and our of homebred Sarkley Pirmadel.
Sarkley Ulany an F94L/ NT821 myostatin carrier followed, making 5,500gns and heads north to Laurencekirk, Kincardineshire for the Gammie family. Ulany is sired by Johnstown Premier who is full sister to the Welsh Winter Fair 2022 Champion and top price Derg Sassygirl and out of homebred Sarkley Poppy.
Sarkley Ulena made 4,500gns an F94L/Q240X goes over the water to Messrs Mcauley, Toomebridge, Antrim. Ulena is a daughter of Burnbank Officer who also bred 14,000gn Sarkley Sybella, the Reserve Red Ladies Champion in 2022. Ulena’s dam, Sarkley Orlena is a Sarkley Jaguar daughter.
Goldies Ula, the first calf to be offered for sale by sire Woodmarsh Regent (full brother to 50,000hns Everpark Partylight – both out of the 50,000gn Millington Highlight) sold for 4,000gns to Messrs Jones, Machynlleth, Powys. Ula’s dam is Goldies Nula and is a F94L/Q240X myostin carrier.
Topping the 5 weaned bull calf trade was Sarkley Unescoe, the first progeny of Sarkley Roscoe, who made 5,000gns and goes home to Messrs Hardisty, Ennerdale, Cumbria. Unescoe is a double NT821 myostatin. Unescoe dam is Sarkley Noelle.
