Commercial demand across a good range of budgets underpinned the British Limousin Cattle Society’s Autumn Bull Sale at United Auctions, Stirling, on Monday 19th October 2026. Following on from the success of the Society’s sale at Borderway Mart, Carlisle earlier at the weekend, it was clear that Limousin genetics continue to dominate the sector.
With buyers looking for scope, good locomotion and easy-calving EBVs, the sale peaked at 16,000gns. 39 bulls found new homes to average £7,829 and a clearance rate of 72%. 95% headed to commercial homes underlining the continued confidence in the breed to deliver in this sector.

Leading the day’s trade at 16,000gns was Lot 399 Strawfrank Viddie, from Allan Campbell, Carnwath which sold to Messrs Johnston, Hewan, Orkney. Born in November 2024, Viddie has double F94L myostatin and a Beef Value of LM46, placing him in the Top 10% of the breed. He is by the renowned French sire Ionesco out of Strawfrank Tillie, a homebred daughter out of Anside Loki.

Second top price at 15,000gns was Lot 441 Dyke Ace from Messrs JR MacGregor Ltd, selling to Messrs Buchanan, Achnaba Farm, Oban. Born in March 2025, Ace is a double F94L bull with a Beef Value of LM42. He is by the popular and successful Glenrock Redemption out of heifer Dyke Tiptop, a daughter of Goldies Lordoftherings.

Another strong result for Messrs MacGregor of the Dyke herd and just a few lots later came Lot 445 Dyke ACDC, which sold for 14,000gns. Also born in March 2025, ACDC is a son of Broadhead Slayer bought by the herd in May 2022 at Carlisle. Noted for his easy-calving EBVs, ACDC carries double F94L myostatin and has a Beef Value of LM47, placing him in the Top 10% of the breed. He heads to his new home with Messrs Simpson & Son, Mains of Creuchies, Perthshire who have enjoyed recent success with Limousin-bred calves at the UA suckled calf sales.

First in a run of three at 12,000gns was Lot 401 Allanfauld Vantastic from Mr A Macgregor (Allanfauld), selling to Messrs Coghill, Birsay, Orkney. This December 2024-born bull has double F94L myostatin and is the first son to be offered for sale by Loosebeare Tommy, the 38,000gns Carlisle champion. Vantastic was reserve junior male champion at the Scottish National on his only outing, and his Beef Value of LM45 sits in the Top 10% of the breed.
A few lots later, the second bull of the day to reach 12,000gns was Lot 435 Dyke Admiral, another from Messrs JR MacGregor of the Dyke herd, which sold to Messrs King, South Hill of Dripps, Thorntonhall. A March 2025-born bull, Admiral is a double F94L son of Glenrock Redemption out of heifer Dyke Toff, a Carrickmore Maximus daughter. He has a Top 10% Beef Value of LM45.

Completing the 12,000gns trio was Lot 440 Anside Ant from Mr & Mrs S Irvine, Drummuir, Keith, selling to Messrs Wallace, Uigle Farm, Campbeltown. Born in March 2025, Ant is out of heifer Anside Tila and by the herd’s own-bred sire Anside Superted. Superted has previously sold sons at Stirling to 18,000gns. Ant has double F94L myostatin and a Beef Value of LM52 placing him in the Top 10% of the breed.

In the pre-sale show, it was Lot 438 Corsairtly Adam that caught the eye of the judge. Lifting first the intermediate championship, he then went on the secure the overall champion honours, later also catching the eye of Messrs Grant, Druid Temple Farm, Inverness who scooped him up for 11,000gns. Born March 2025 and out of the homebred heifer Corsairtly Tara, he is sired by Meadowrig Undertone. Adam, who was bred by R and K Davidson, Keith, Banffshire, is a double F94L bull.

The senior champion was Lot 391 Ronick Vigilante from Mr R Dick, Stirling who realised 10,000gns selling to Messrs Hendry, Back O’ Muir, Bannockburn. Born in October 2024, Vigilante is a double F94L bull out of heifer Ronick Tilly, a Castlebrock Paddington daughter, and by the famous Broadmeadows Cannon.

Other championship results included the junior champion, Lot 446 Elrick Ardbeg, from Michael Massie, which sold for 8,000gns. In a double, the reserve junior champion was from the same home, Lot 452 Elrick Admiral, which realised 9,500gns. Reserve senior champion was Grahams Viggo from Mr and Mrs R and J Graham, selling for 6,000gns, while the reserve intermediate and reserve overall champion Lot 419 Cairnbog Alionking from Messrs W and R Thompson, made 5,000gns.

Judging the pre-sale show was Mick Gould of the Woodmarsh herd in Shropshire, with shadow judge Nikita Fineran travelling from the Isle of Wight.
Commenting on the show, Mick Gould said: “I would like to thank all the vendors and the Society for the opportunity to judge today. It was a great turnout of bulls, and the overall standard of cattle was good. Buyers certainly have their pick.”
On his overall champion, Corsairtly Adam, he added: “He was a correct bull, with scale and good breed type, and I like him very much.”

On the reserve overall champion, Lot 419 Cairnbog Alionking, he commented: “He had stood reserve to the champion in the intermediate section. A similar type, he was another bull offering a bit of scope with good locomotion, which I like very much”
The day’s results highlighted the continued importance of commercially focused Limousin genetics, with buyers placing value on functional cattle combining sound locomotion, length, scope and easy-calving potential.
