SOUTH WEST MULTI BREED SHOW & SALE

A catalogue of 516 pedigree cattle were entered for the South West Autumn Multi-Breed Pedigree Beef Cattle Show & Sale, held at Sedgemoor Auction Centre on Thursday 7th October. Breed shows were held by the Limousin, Salers, Beef Shorthorn and Dexter breeds, with twelve breeds in total on display.

The continental breeds were led by the Limousins, when the top price of £3,150 was secured by Mr Colin Hutchings for his 2008 born show heifer Edmo Dinky, an exceptional heifer, who has won many first prizes and championships during the summer. Greatly admired for her tremendous hind quarters she is from the great breeding lines of Broadmeadows Tombola and Tanhill Rumpus. She was sold in-calf to Breconside Del Boy, himself a prolific show winner. She heads to an undisclosed buyer.
Also successful was Mr Nick Hill who sold his 2007 born heifer, Rosecroft Coral, for £2782.50. This Ryedale Paragon daughter, out of Grahams Tulip, was sold with twin bull and heifer calves at foot by Clydevalley Arty and PD’d back in calf to Guards Deputydog, the seller’s successful 2010 show bull. Messrs EW Quick & Sons, always in the vanguard at Sedgemoor sales, did it again with two young bulls, Loosebeare Eduardo and Loosebeare Electric, both by Haltcliffe Anzac. These both went on to sell for £2100 to join commercial herds.
