Corries, one of the largest family farming operations in Northern Ireland, hosts a charity event next Saturday August 18 from noon to 6pm. Organised to raise funds for leading local charity, Action Cancer, this ‘Fun on the Farm’ event is a unique opportunity for fellow farmers and their families to view excellent livestock and to gain an insight into their beef production and marketing systems. Less than four miles from Newtownards town centre at 13, Crossnamuckley Rd, Newtownards BT22 2AA, the ‘Fun on the Farm’ event will be signposted from the Portaferry Road and from Six Road Ends.

The ‘Farm to Fork’ beef operation is based on calving 400 suckler cows and takes all stock through to finishing. 14 Limousin stock bulls are run and a pedigree Limousin herd has been established following the purchase of eight heifers from the Sarkley Herd.

Beef is retailed via the ‘Corries on the Farm’ butchery business, an operation now expanding with high street outlets in Gilnahirk, Belfast’s Newtownards Road and Newtownards itself.

A huge array of attractions will be on site from face painting to cattle grooming, from vets and stock judging to a digger challenge.
