BROADOAK GALAHAD TOPS S WEST LIMOUSIN SALE AT 3,400GNS
A top price of 3,400gns was achieved at the South West Limousin Club Sale held at the Bristol on 18th September, 2012 through H&H which included a Major Reduction of the Timberlands Herd on behalf of Mr C Phillips, Biscombe, Churchstanton, Taunton.
Consigned by CF Richens, Coppa Dolla Farm, Broadhempston, Totnes, the April 2011-born Limousin bull Broadoak Galahad topped the trade at 3,400gns when selling to an undisclosed buyer in Cumbria. He is by the noted AI sire Fieldson Alfy and is out of the homebred dam Broadoak Blossom and had stood as Supreme Champion in the pre-sale show under judge James Little of the Guards Herd, Thursby, Carlisle.
The first prize-winning bull Stourhead General, March 2011-born and consigned by H & JL Parker, Home Farm, Stourton, Warminster, realised 2,650gns when going under the hammer to BA & C Godwin & Sons, Timothy Rose Farm, Limpley Stoke, Bath. He is sired by Utha and is out of Stourhead Tansy.
In the females, leading price was the 2,300gns bid for Quaish Princess brought forward by Mr DK Wheeler, Goodiford Mill, Kentisbeare, Cullompton. By Djerk and out of Broadmeadows Governess, this 1999-born ninth calver was knocked down to M & S Edwards, 28 Silver Street, Congresbury, Bristol.
Topping the Timberlands Reduction Sale was the 2,100gns Timberlands Copperbeech, a 2007-born second calver by Tunnelby Ugolimo and out of Timberlands Aspen. She now heads to WO & V Dibdin, Fairacres Farm, North Gorley, Fordingbridge, Hants.
