The June 2011-born maiden heifer Sarkley Goldenjen sold for 11,000gns and led the trade at the heifer sale from the noted Sarkley Herd of Messrs EH Pennie & Sons, Gwern-Yr-Ychain, Llandyssil, Montgomery, Powys held at Welshpool Market on Saturday 27th October 2012. The sale, the first to be held locally by the herd, was conducted by joint auctioneers Harrison & Hetherington along with Welshpool Livestock Sales Ltd.

Paying the top price of 11,000gns, and what was one of seven purchases on the day, were GE Davies & Sons who run the Cwmbromley pedigree herd at Cwmbromley, Sarn, Newtown, Powys. The Davies presently run around 100 commercial cows alongside a 20-cow pedigree herd. The second animal on the day to make 8,000gns was the April 2011-born Sarkley Gazola. This heifer is by Rocky and is out of Sarkley Ullola who goes back to the herd’s noted Ola family. Again combining a depth of proven pedigree and performance along with a Beef Value of LM+39, Sarkley Gazola was bought by Andrew Ewing, Dumbretton Farm, Annan, Dumfries who was buying on behalf of a client.
