Held at Hilltown Mart on Thursday 4th October 2012, a Limousin Sale on behalf of the Lynderg, Fedneyhouse and Carmorn herds realised a top price of 3,800gns.
Presented by John & Margery Adams, Banbridge the 3,800gns Fedneyhouse Fiona is an August 2010-born heifer sired by Ulm and out of the noted brood cow Lumbylaw Nellie. She is full sister to Fedneyhouse Crystal who was Reserve Overall and Junior Champion at Balmoral in 2008. The purchaser was Robert Sterritt, Jerretspass. The same purchaser selected Fedneyhouse Fifi, a full sister to Fedneyhouse Fiona, from a pair of heifers sold on choice. Selected by Mr Sterritt as his pick on the day, she was knocked down at the 3,000gns mark.
One of the youngest heifers in the book sold for 3,500 guineas. This was for Carmorn Glossy from Charles & Francis McAuley, Toomebridge and was snapped up by Messrs O’Reilley, Keady. A yearling heifer, she is sired by Ampertaine Eliminator and traces back to the noted Carmorn Holly on the dam’s side. She is maternal brother to Carmorn Cantona who is stock bull at Frewstown Limousins.
The Lynderg females on behalf of breeder Jim Quail, Tullyear, Banbridge sold to a lead call of 3,100gns when going under the hammer to Owen Miskelly, Belfast for a daughter of the imported cow Tsarine. Lynderg Finesse is sired by the Ocean son Lynderg Bergerac whose full brother sold to 7,800gns.
Given a packed ringside, auctioneer Mark Stewart quickly worked his way through the catalogue with a virtual clearance recorded.
