INFORMATION FOR COMPETITORS
Please find below some information relating to the Anglo-Irish Stockjudging Competition due to be held at the English Winter Fair on Saturday 17th November 2012. We would be grateful if you could confirm your attendance or otherwise to Caroline at the BLCS office preferably by email (caroline@limousin.co.uk).
Introduction
It is anticipated that this year’s competition will have teams from Southern Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland & Wales competing. As per previous years teams will be put together based on their individual scores at the YLBC Stockjudging held at this year’s Devon County Show, with teams of four members (minimum of 3 with the top 3 scores counting towards final results) aged up to maximum of 28 years on event day.
All competitors must be paid up members of YLBC.

Venue & Timings
To be held at the English Winter Fair, Staffordshire County Showground Saturday 17th November 2012 stock-judging approximately 2pm onwards and cattle handling 5.30pm with exact timings to be confirmed .
Format
The format provisionally to be in line with previous years with the competition divided into three sections: handling, judging and reasons – each with equal weighting. Competitors to judge a class of 4 steers and 4 heifers ,then give reasons on one class to a panel of judges.

- Placing 4 Bulls or Heifers 100 points
Section 2 – Reasons
- Content 20 points
- Appearance and manner of presentation 20 points
- Accuracy of observation 20 points
- A comparative rather than descriptive statement 20 points
- Style, ability and confidence 20 points
Section 3 – Handling
- Ability 25 points
- Style 25 points
- Conduct 25 points
- Appearance 25 points
Travel Arrangements
Staffordshire County Showground
Weston Road,
Stafford ST18 0BD
By road.
Along the A518, Stafford to Uttoxeter road, 4 miles from Stafford.
Drivers using the M6 should exit at junction14 and follow signs for showground.
By rail.
The showground is 4 miles from Stafford railway station which is situated on the West Coast Main Line with direct services to Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Liverpool, London and Scotland.
There is a bus link from the station to the showground.
By air.
Birmingham International Airport is 45 minutes away.
Manchester and East Midland airports are 1 hour away.
Competitors to arrange their own travel but it would be a good idea to travel together if possible. Note, any competitor aged under 16 should arrange for an adult to accompany them. Parents or friends are, of course, very welcome to attend and lend their support.
