June 2010-born, Dyfri Fioled is a Wilodge Cerberus daughter and is out of the Jockey-sired Dyfri Afallon. Combining breeding and figures (Beef Value of LM+45), Dyfri Fioled was sold to the Monkeypuzzle pedigree herd of Walter Wight, St Boswells, Melrose.
This British Limousin Cattle Society (BLCS) Breeders’ Sale was held at Llandovery Market jointly between auctioneers Clee Tomkinson Francis and Newark Livestock Market. There was a good buzz about the sale ring with a feature of the sale being the quality of the Wilodge Cerberus and Ironstone Brandy calves with a very good bunch of five Univers-sired heifers present. Overall, the uniform bunches of cattle secured a good trade.
The second top price was the 6,000gns paid for Dyfri Esther. September 2009-born, Dyfri Esther is by the homebred stock bull Dyfri Adam and is out of Dyfri Bijou, a Senateur daughter. She was sold with her Wilodge Cerberus-sired heifer calf, Dyfri Hester, at foot to Avonfinch Ltd, Eton House, Upton Tern, Market Drayton.
At 5,200gns was the August 2005-born Dyfri Aisa, a Senateur daughter and out of Dyfri Nana, by Faignant. This cow, a fourth calver, sold with her Milbrook Dakota-sired heifer calf, Dyfri Hydra, at foot and with a Beef Value of LM+31 to T Jenkins & Sons, Torycoed Farm, Rhiwsaeson, Pontyclun, Mid-Glamorgan for their Torycoed Herd. The same purchasers bought the previous “A” lot at 3,900gns, a January 2012-born heifer calf. This was for Dyfri Henna, an Ironstone Brandy daughter and out of Dyfri Casi, a Nectar daughter. She was sold with a Beef Value of LM+32.
The very first lot in the ring took a 4,000gns bid. This was for Dyfri Vamp, a Jockey daughter and out of a dam by Goldies Hallmark, Dyfri Lady. Sold with her Wilodge Cerberus heifer calf, Dyfri Helice, at foot, she was back in-calf again to Cerberus. Purchaser was Mr David Gethin, Cwmcaebitra, Sarn, Newtown as a foundation for a new pedigree Limousin herd, with Mr Gethin planning to show the calf during the summer.
Another at 4,000gns was Dyfri Femme, a Dyfri Adam daughter and out of Dyfri Amour (by Pantin). She sold in-calf to Milbrook Dakota to DB Davies & Sons, Eisteddfa Fawr, Brynberian, Crymych, Pembs for their Eisteddfa prefix.
Two Univers-sired heifers made 4,000gns apiece. The first of these was Dyfri Fenena, April 2010-born sired by Univers and out of Dyfri Canasta. With a Beef Value of LM+27 she now heads to Mr C Davies, Glanydfer, Crosswell, Eglwyswrw, Pembs for his Glencross Limousin Herd.
Two lots later, another by Univers and this time out of Dyfri Unveil, secured a final bid of 4,000gns. This was for Dyfri Felice. New owner is T Davies, Tregynnon, Newtown.
