BULL SALE: SATURDAY 16TH FEBRUARY 10am

Bull Show Fri 9am; Female Sale Fri 5pm; Bull Sale Sat 10am

INFORMAL GALLERY of the pre-sale Show can be viewed HERE

Following on from the Stirling Sale, there is another super entry of 265 bulls at Carlisle’s Borderway Mart on Saturday 16th February 2013.  Once again the bulls on offer provide a depth of quality backed up by proven bloodlines and performance figures suitable for a variety of purposes and farming systems.

Saleable at any age or type, the Limousin’s ability to produce profit-leaving cattle to meet the requirements of the commercial producer remains the focus for Limousin breeders across the UK.

Furthermore, this Limousin sale sees:  all bulls entered coming from herds within CHeCS-approved herd health schemes;   around two-thirds of bulls having full and robust performance figures; and all bulls being subject to a pre-sale veterinary inspection that includes locomotion, testicles, teeth, eyes, and docility.  All bulls are sold under the National Beef Association’s carefully-worded breeding warranties which offer a further level of surety and confidence to buyers.

Performance Figures:  Of the 265 bulls catalogued, 62% come with full performance figures which indicate their genetic strengths for a variety of commercial traits.  Analysis shows that a high proportion of these bulls have first class combinations of characteristics sought by commercial producers for producing suckled calves and for breeding replacement heifers.

Herd Health:  The British Limousin Cattle Society places emphasis on health status. All bulls entered are from herds within CHeCS-approved health schemes.  Within the catalogue, and at the pens, buyers are presented with herd health information relating to BVD, Johne’s, Lepto, IBR and TB status.

Commercial producers are looking for performance and profitability, and want easy-calving, easily-kept cattle that have good growth, convert feed efficiently and consistently meet the target grades with good yield.  Limousin suckler cows also hit the mark and are easy calving, produce a regular calf, are cheap to keep, efficient, highly fertile, have tremendous longevity, and at the end of a productive life, have a top cull cow value.  This combination of flexibility and economics makes the Limousin the commercial producer’s choice in what is a cost-conscious time.

I do hope that this catalogue offers you a choice in market-relevant, quality bulls that deliver added value and bring performance and profitability.  If there is anything around this sale that I can be of further help with then please do not hesitate to contact me.    I look forward to seeing you there. Catalogues are available and can be viewed here  or can be purchased from Harrison & Hetherington at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, CA1 2RS.  Females catalogue also available HERE.
