Once again Autumn beckons the start of the suckled calf shows and sales and the NI Limousin Cattle Club, together with long standing sponsors Ulster Bank Limited, are looking forward to the next four weeks as they announce details of their show & sale schedule.
Supporting the stockmen in the region is a crucial part of the Club’s activities and at these annual sales it is a pleasure to see what young animals are brought forward to the selected venues across Northern Ireland – Ballymena, Hilltown, Swatragh, Enniskillen and Markethill. Each of these events will hold a show prior to the sale where the top three animals in both a young bull and heifer class will receive a ribbon and prize money.
These events attract good local support where young Limousin stock can be sold in the commercial market and has led to super prices at all the marts last year. The sales are an excellent window of opportunity to obtain Limousin cross cattle that are suitable for the current beef market or a chance to buy young replacement breeding heifers which have natural muscle conformation which require moderate maintenance.
It all begins on Saturday the 28th September at Ballymena Mart (028 25633470) starting with the show at 9.30am, sale 11.00 am. Next date scheduled is Hilltown Mart (02840658152) on Tuesday 8th October who will kick off their show at 6.00pm and sale 7.00pm. Following will be Swatragh(028 79401537) on Monday 14th October with showing starting 10.00am and sale starting 11.00am. Ulster Farmers Mart, Enniskillen (028 6632 2218) are scheduled for Tuesday 15th October with the show starting at 5.30pm and the sale starting at 7.00pm. And finally at the new premises of Markethill Mart(028 37551265) the date has been set as Thursday 17th October for their show & sale. Please contact the relevant markets for any changes to times etc and we look forward to seeing you all at the shows & sales.
