LIMOUSIN SALES FOCUSED ON THE CUSTOMER

Built firmly around the needs of the customer, British Limousin Cattle Society sales aim to deliver the highest level of buyer confidence with pedigree Limousin breeders striving to provide high-quality stock within its structured sales programme.

Here are just some of the services and assurances that buyers will have at the forthcoming BLCS Sale at Brecon.

Herd Health Information. Classed as a Premier Sale, all bull vendors must be members of a CHeCS-licenced health scheme conducting as a minimum a whole herd test for Johne’s. All bulls are BVD vaccinated for the buyer’s convenience and up-to-date Herd Health information is included in the Vendor’s Index in the catalogue.

Performance Recorded:  A high percentage of the bulls entered are from fully performance recorded herds and have Estimated Breeding Values displayed.  Buyers can take advantage of the performance indicators that can help in the selection of traits for calving ease, growth and muscle, milk, docility, and gestation length.  Prior to the sale the on-line BASCO database provides you with the Limousin herdbook at your fingertips where you can look up and research the pedigrees and figures of sale animals and their families. Go to www.limousin.co.uk and click on the BASCO icon.

Inspected Bulls: At the May 2014 Sale, bulls entered will be subject to a pre-sale inspection conducted by two veterinary surgeons and an appointed Society inspector.  Bulls will be weighed and must pass a pre-determined weight for age standard.  A veterinary examination of testicles, eyes, teeth and general health is also conducted. Testicles are inspected, measured and must pass a minimum size.  Bulls are also inspected for locomotion, general conformation, and docility.

Pre-sale Show:  The pre-sale show of bulls allows buyers to visually assess, compare and select the bulls of their choice to bid on.

NBA Breeding Warranties:  Providing a level of post-sale guarantee, all animals are sold under the National Beef Association’s Breeding Warranties.  These carefully crafted industry standard rules provide buyers with guarantees, to timelines, on the bull’s fertility.

Taurus Insurance:  Available at all BLCS sales, Taurus also provides fall of hammer insurance cover for both vendors and buyers.  The attractive Luck Penny Insurance incorporates NBA Breeding Warranty, All Risks Mortality, and Loss of Use.

Choice & Value:  Consistently of a high standard at Society Sales, there are first-class bulls ideally suited to a variety of markets and at all levels of budget.  The majority of bulls sold at Society sales are between 3,000 – 5,000gns.  High quality at real value.

The Society’s website, www.limousin.co.uk, will keep you up to date with all the news in the run up to the sales and with the post-sale reporting.  So come to the Limousin Sales with confidence and where the Society, the breeders within, and the auctioneers are working hard on the customers behalves.
