Top price at today’s Limousin Society Breeders’ Sale held at Holsworthy Market with Kivells Auctioneers was the 4,000gns black Limousin bull Tamarvalley Black Inventor consigned by Harpers Holdings Ltd, Trepoyle Farm, North Tamerton. April 2013-born, he is entirely homebred being sired by Tamarvalley Dunterton and out of Tamarvalley Erica. He sold to DP Jones, Lan Cynwyl-Elfed, Carmarthen.
Supreme Champion under Judge Mrs Vicky Smith, Caseberry Farm, Bradninch was the 3,800gns Loosebeare Intelligent from EW Quick & Sons, Zeal Monachorum, Crediton. Born in July 2013, this bull is by Haltcliffe Anzac and is out of Loosebeare Tatalie, a granddaughter of Broadmeadows Cannon. With a Beef Value of LM+40, he sold to EP Eustace, Deveral Farm, Hayle, Cornwall. Commenting, the Judge said: “My Champion was very well grown for his age, good through his top with a good back-end, and good on his legs and feet.”
In the Female section, top price was the 2,800gns Rosecroft Inspiration from Mr & Mrs DK Wheeler, Goodiford Mill, Kentisbeare a January 2013-born embryo calf by Objat and out of the noted show cow Brickhill Carol. She went under the hammer in-calf to Brutus Hashtag.
Reserve Overall Champion at the 2,400gns mark was the October 2010-born cow Rosecroft Fleur, also from the Wheelers. Another ET-bred female, this time by Ulm and out of Ronick Tess, she sold in-calf to the homebred Rosecroft Ideal (Brickhill Carol x Fieldson Alfy) for 2,400gns.
