4200GNS LOOSEBEARE JUVENTAS LEADS SOUTH WEST LIMOUSIN SPRING SALE

• 94% clearance rate with 17 bulls sold

The South Western Limousin Cattle Breeders’ Club held their Annual Spring Show & Sale at Holsworthy Market on Wednesday 27^th April.

Taking the top price of £4200 was the pre-sale Supreme and Male Champion Loosebeare Juventas sold by EW Quick & Sons, Loosebeare Manor, Crediton, Devon.  The June 2014 born Juventas was sired by Loosebeare Fantastic and is out of Loosebeare Dawny a Rainbow Simon daughter.  Purchasing the top price animal was Mr Needham & Sons, Blandford, Dorset.  Of his Champion animal the judge for the day, Mr Rowland Nancekivell, Heatham Farm, Kilkhampton, Bude, Cornwall said: “this is a very modern Limousin bull in size, quality, and conformation.”  As well as the Champion animal the Quicks sold further bulls at 3100gns and 3000gns respectively.

With plenty of demand the sale saw averages increase on the year by £60 to £3198 with the seventeen bulls sold representing an excellent clearance rate of 94%.

Selling at 3900gns was Rosecroft Jupiter on behalf of Mr & Mrs DK Wheeler from Goodiford Mill, Kentisbeare, Nr Cullompton, Devon.  Sired by Newtown Grant and out of Rosecroft Countess, a Grahams Unbeatable daughter,  this September 2014 born bull with a Beef Value of LM+43 was bought by JW Stanbury,  Lynton, Devon.

Eight bulls in all exceeded the 3000gns mark.   These included Killerton Jackson from Mr & Mrs PW&SM Greed, Columbjohn Farm Ltd,  Rewe, Exeter,  Devon which sold at 3500gns. Sired by Killerton Eagle, which goes back to Grahams Unbeatable, and out of Killerton Diva, this September 2014 bull was purchased by GA Richards, Trendeal Farm, Cornwall.  The Greeds also sold Killerton Jetski , a Crossdykes Goliath son, for 3000gns.

EW Quick & Sons sold two smart served heifers at 1500gns and a maiden heifer at 1400gns.
