It was great to see so many people at the Open Day on behalf of the South Western Limousin Cattle Breeders’ Club on Sunday 26th June. 150 people from across the South West booked to visit Wortham Farm, Lifton, West Devon by kind permission of Mr & Mrs W Jamison and their daughters, who run a 180 Commercial Suckler Herd of mainly Limousin cross and Belgium Blue Cross Cows putting them back to Belgium Blue and Limousin Bulls.
Wortham Farm lies on the Devon/Cornwall border, and is approximately 550 to 600ft above sea level. Despite the drizzly weather, four tractors and trailers took us around the farm. We were amazed to see how the batches of cows and their bulls kept themselves apart! Moving the herd forward, their daughter Sarah said their focus now was on the Breeding.
We headed back to the farm where we had a lovely tea, with the catering by Jo & Tony Smith. Brief talks were kindly given by Rebecca Hurd from Cogent followed by Lachlan Maclachian from Mole Valley.
A Guess the Weight Competition of a Limousin and a Belgium Blue Bull, took place in aid of Cornwall Air Ambulance
The South Western Limousin Cattle Breeders’ Club would like to thank Mr & Mrs W Jamison and their Family for inviting us to visit their Farm and the Limousin Society for their support in this event.
