A 2011-born cow by Wilodge Cerberus with an April-born heifer calf at foot she stood out for Judge Stephen Illingworth (Glenrock herd) in a powerful Limousin entry of 124 animals.

In what transpired to be a day for the ladies, Poolehall Iris took Reserve Champion.  Owned by Messrs McBeath & Jessop and bred by Mr & Mrs N Matthews, this powerful 2013-born heifer adds the award to her show successes of last year, which culminated in the Scottish Grand Prix and Interbreed Championships at Turriff show in August.

Taking the top spot as Junior Male and Overall Male Champion was Foxhillfarm LordoftheRings for Mr & Mrs MJ Alford.  A 2015-born bull by Guards Boomer, he is out of Bankdale Alice, also dam of Foxhillfarm Jasper and Foxhillfarm Ivy who took Supreme Champion and Reserve Champion honours at this show in 2015.   Jasper subsequently sold to Messrs Jenkinson for 32,000gns.

Reserve Junior Male and Overall Reserve Champion Male of the day was an upstanding young bull Grahams Lorenzo for Messrs R&J Graham.  By Claragh Franco out of home-bred Grahams Coffey & previously unshown, only a whisker divided this smart young bull from LordoftheRings in the top slot.

Enjoying a fine days showing, Messrs Jenkinsons also went on to win the Junior Female Championship with April 2015-born Whinfellpark Lavender.  By Gorrycam Hazzard and out of Whinfellpark Holly she took the top slot in arguably the strongest section of the day.

In the Reserve Junior Female Champion spot was Foxhillfarm Limitededition from Mr & Mrs MJ Alford.  Described by Judge Stephen Illingworth as an animal perfectly typifying the Limousin breed, she is an August-2015 born heifer by Kype Interrogate out of the noted Bankdale Elizabeth – a Bankdale Alice daughter – also shown and first in her class.

In the Best Group of Three competition, where animals must be drawn from different classes and owned by each exhibitor, Whinfellpark Glittered and Whinfellpark Lavender were joined by heifer Whinfellpark Jade to take the top slot for Messrs Jenkinson.

In the keenly contested Commercial Cattle section it was JCB Commercials taking the Overall Champion title with a December 2014-born heifer, JLO, sired by Norman Ely out of a LimX dam.  Purchased last winter at Hilltown Mart for £1000 this heifer has had double success this season, winning the Junior Championship commercial title at RUAS Balmoral Show in May.

Thank you to Judge for the day, Stephen Illingworth of the Glenrock herd and sponsors of the Limousin show section, Norbrook Genetics.
