£8,000 EAGLESIDE BULL TOPS JUNE LIMOUSIN SALE AT CARLISLE

16 Bulls average £4,184

£2,216 for 12 Females

The June Online Timed Auction held on the 11-12th June 2020 saw the Limousin bull Eagleside Prometheus top this multibreed summer sale fixture when going under the virtual hammer for £8,000. Bred by Tom Illingworth, Howgillside, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie. Prometheus is a March 2019-born embryo calf by Wilodge LJ and out of the dam Glenrock Jewel who had stood Reserve Female Champion at the 2015 Royal Highland, and is a maternal sister to the 125,000gns Glenrock Illusion. In November 2019, Prometheus won the Junior Limousin Championship at the Stars of the Future show. He was bought by HG Perkins & Sons, Haywood Farm, Radstock, Bath as they continued their recent run of purchases for their establishing Hartmoor prefix which has included the £10,500 top price at Ballymena last week alongside the record-priced 8,000gns embryo from the Grahams herd in May 2018.

At £6,100 was Tomschoice Oriflamme from James & Sarah Cooper, Hill Top Farm, Dacre, North Yorks. A December 2018 son of Mereside Leo and out of the Kaprico Eravelle daughter Tomschoice Lachic, he heads over the water to Messrs Gill, Bradox Monaghan, Republic of Ireland.

Bred by Paul Dawes at Dinmore Manor, Hereford was the £6,000 Dinmore Ourson, born in October 2018 to Ampertaine Elgin and out of Dinmore Caprice (by Wilodge Vantastic). Caprice has previously bred sons to 14,000gns (Dinmore Jumbo) and daughters to 22,000gns (Dinmore Foxy). Messrs Barker & Son, Much Wenlock, Shropshire are the new owners.

Tom Illingworth rounded off a good day by taking both leading prices in the female section. At £3,300 was the 2015-born cow Eagleside Lolita, by Greensons Howlett and out of Towler Cindy (by Cloughhead Umpire), who sold with her May-born heifer calf at foot, Eagleside Rochelle, sired by the Irish-bred Mullary Maxime, to Messrs Greenlaw, Aberchirder, Huntly, Aberdeenshire.

Messrs Lumley & Sons, Bedale, N.Yorkshire then paid £3,200 for Eagleside Juniper, the earlier 2014 born daughter of Towler Cindy and sired by Goldies Comet. She was sold alongside her March-born heifer calf, Eagleside Rose, again by Mullary Maxime.
