The Limousin Society is very sad to announce the passing of Peter Smith of the Ironstone Pedigree Limousin herd, who passed away a day before his 78th birthday.

Peter was a renowned Limousin breeder, who continued to help run the farm and business up until his passing.

The Ironstone Herd was a major supporter of the Limousin breed noted for its purchase of influential animals such as the 42,000gns Wilodge Vantastic and the 50,000gns Bailea Umandy which produced a number of influential progeny for Ironstone. The Ironstone Herd dispersed in 2018 bringing some forty years of Limousin breeding to an end with the sale topped at 22,000gns by the prolific show winner Ironstone Dumandy.

The funeral was held on Friday the 29th April at Bloxham Church, Bloxham, Banbury OX15 4PY.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the Smith Family at this sad time.
