The Scottish Limousin Club held its annual National Grand Prix at the Stirling Agricultural Show on Saturday 13 June, set against the backdrop of the iconic Wallace Monument.

Judging this year’s competition was Paul Rainey, CEO of the British Limousin Cattle Society and owner of the Claragh Limousin Herd, Co. Derry. Paul commended Scottish breeders on the outstanding quality of cattle exhibited throughout the day, with 40 animals forward for competition.

Taking the Overall Championship was Glenrock Voodoo Magic, an October 2024-born heifer exhibited by Stephen and Thomas Illingworth. After winning a strong heifer class, she went on to claim Junior Female, Junior Champion, Female Champion and Overall Champion before being selected as Reserve Overall Beef Interbreed Champion. She is sired by Glenrock Stillgame and out of Glenrock Redruby, a successful show winner for the family in 2022.

Reserve Overall Champion was the four-year-old stock bull Garrowby Tarzan, exhibited by Stewart and Lynsey Bett of the Grahams herd. Sired by Grahams Rooney, Tarzan won his class before securing Senior Male, Male Champion and Reserve Overall Champion. These honours add to an impressive show record that includes Male Champion titles at the Royal Highland and Great Yorkshire Shows in 2024.

The Grahams herd also claimed Reserve Female Champion with Grahams Vavavoom. The heifer, sired by Ampertaine Elgin and out of the multiple championship-winning Grahams Ruth, progressed from second in her class to win Reserve Junior Female, Reserve Junior Champion and Reserve Female Champion.
Reserve Male Champion also went to the Grahams team with Grahams Angelo, a son of Derrygullinane Kingbull. After winning his class, he secured Junior Male Champion and Reserve Male Champion.

The Best Presented and Paraded Young Stockperson Competition attracted 14 competitors under the age of 30 and was assessed by secret judge Katreen Malone, who evaluated presentation, preparation and stock handling throughout the day.

Gregor Milne, representing the Allanfauld team, won the Junior section before being crowned Overall Best Young Stockperson. Melissa Donaldson, representing the Glenrock team, won the Senior section and took the Reserve Overall title. Congratulations go to all the young competitors, whose enthusiasm and professionalism highlighted the bright future of the breed.

The Scottish Limousin Club extends its sincere thanks to the Stirling Agricultural Show, the Scottish Limousin Committee, stewards and sponsors for their continued support in delivering another successful National Grand Prix.
