There was a steady trade at the British Limousin Cattle Society’s Spring Bull & Female Sale held at Dungannon Farmers Mart on Monday 11th February 2013. In all, 32 out of the 40 bulls were sold to achieve an 80% clearance rate with an average of £2782 and 11 out of the 14 heifers forward sold to an average £1756.
Following the pre-sale show, judged by Ron Cruickshank from Lanarkshire, Scotland, top price of the day went to Overall Reserve Champion and Senior Champion Lisbeg Gladiator bred by Mr S V Patterson, Ballygawley. This powerful and stylish bull born March 2011 is sired by the prolific sire Wilodge Vantastic and bred out of a Kype Spartacus daughter Carmorn Vicky. He now heads to the home of well renowned commercial and pedigree limousin breeders Corries Farm, Newtownards.
Second top price of the day went to Carmorn Galieth, a July 2011 born bull bred by C & F McAuley, Toomebridge. This bull is sired by Messrs McAuley stock bull Ampertaine Eliminator, a Glenrock Ventura son, who had won Best Stock Bull 2012 in the regional herd competition. His homebred dam Carmorn Buttons, a Carmorn Penny daughter by Nectar has sold bulls in Carlisle at 10,000gns. This bull heads to an undisclosed NI buyer.
Intermediate Reserve Champion Eniver George, bred by Mr M McKeefry, Garvagh, fetched the third top price of 4200gns. This July 2011 born bull holds a beef value of LM+25 and is sired by Ampertaine Valiant, a Moero son and out of a home bred dam Eniver Alice, a Ronick Hawk daughter. He now heads to new home Mr I Kee from Strabane.
Fourth top price of 3600gns went to Rahoney Graham bred by Messrs H & D McFarland, Trillick. This June 2011 born bull is sired by Messrs McFarland’s stock bull Drummin Beau, a Mas Du Clo son out of a homebred dam Rahoney Alison. Holding a Beef Value of LM+42 he now heads to Mr M Fleming, Magherafelt.
In the females Rathkeeland Fleurette brought forward by Mr R Crawford, Maguiresbridge, took top price of 3,100gns. This stylish October born 2010 female had been crowned Overall Female Champion earlier in the show . She is sired by Sylvandene Defoe, a Mas Du Clo son, and out of dam Curraghree Colette, a Scorboro Regius daughter and scanned in calf to French bull Charlie. She now heads to new home of Ms A Adams, Magherafelt.
Overall Female Reserve Champion Croobview Grace, bred by Messrs J & D Jardine fetched second top price in the females of 2,500gns. This July 2011 born maiden heifer was an embryo calf bred from French bred sire Ulm and dam Annadale Bluebell, an Ocean daughter. This elegant and smart heifer now heads to breeder, Mr C McNulty, Leitrim, Ireland.
Another female heading to Ireland was joint third top price of 2,200gns Rahoney Glorious, bred by Messrs H & D McFarland, Trillick. This March 2011 born heifer had a Beef Value of LM+25 and is sired by stock bull Drummin Beau and out of a home bred dame Rahoney Beauty, a Homebyres Visitor daughter. She is AI’d to Molosky Ger, a Wilodge Vantastic son sold in Carlisle, October 2011 for 12,000gns and now heads to Pedigree breeder Mr R McAdoo, Clones, Co Monaghan.
Also fetching 2,200gns was Erne Gemina, bred by Mr R Crawford, Maguiresbridge. This April 2011 born heifer is a Sauvignon daughter bred out of dam Cookstown Pipette. Holding a Beef Value of LM+18 she was purchased by Ms A Adams, Magherafelt.
