Cambridgeshire based breeder, Guy Green, has been elected as Chairman of BASCO following the AGM held on 10th October, 2014. Guy takes over from Tim Healy, who served as Chairman for a period of 6 years and was the longest serving Chairman BASCO has had during its 8 year history.
Guy farms with his father and brother on 2000 acres in Cambridgeshire and runs 25 Pedigree Limousin cows alongside a substantial arable business. Guy returned to the farm after a stint in London and working abroad. Guy’s first focus is the cattle, which was established with the importation of 3 French heifers in the early 1980’s, one of which went on to breed the famous Greensons Gigolo. The herd has embraced black-coated North American Limousin genetics with a view to utilising both the polled and coloured genes to obvious industry advantage. The herd has been performance recording since 1990 and has been recently awarded Eblex’s most improved herd for the second time in 3 years. Guy has been a British Limousin Cattle Society Council member, for just 18 months.

Farming is continuously moving into the digital world and I feel that BASCO is perfectly placed to develop with this and become an even more valuable tool for flock and herd management.”
