Vantastic Support for Marathon Runner
Limousin Society staff member Polly Goldie has entered the Paris Marathon on Sunday 10th April. Polly is running the marathon in aid of Cancer Research UK. This is a new challenge for Polly who has previously only ever entered one other race, the local Two Castles Race, a 6 mile run. This is a full 20 miles further than she has run before.
A generous Limousin breeder has donated 3 straws of Wilodge Vantastic semen to the cause. These are to be auctioned at the May Limousin Cattle Sale being held at Carlisle on 6th and 7th of May with the proceeds benefitting Cancer Research UK. The 42,000gns Wilodge Vantastic is a prolific breeding bull with semen in short supply. A single straw has fetched as much as 450gns at auction in recent months.
Cogent has kindly offered to deliver this semen free of charge to the purchaser and Harrison and Hetherington will waive their commission on this sale to maximise the amount of money being raised for Cancer Research UK.
In October last year, Polly agreed to take part in the Paris Marathon and duly signed up for the race. With weeks of training and miles of tarmac pounding having been completed there are now less than 3 weeks until race day.
Polly is joined in the marathon by three other members of the Stretton on Dunsmore Running Group, also known as SOD Running! They have been training all through the snow and ice of this winter and have spent each Sunday morning training for the event as well as two evenings every week.
Polly would welcome any additional sponsorship for this worthy cause. Anyone wishing to sponsor Polly for her run can email her at polly@limousin.co.uk with their details or post a cheque made payable to Mrs P Goldie to the Society office at Stoneleigh. If any sponsorship can be Gift Aided then this would help raise even more money for Cancer Research UK.
