The early Spring Pedigree Limousin Sale of bulls and females, held at Borderway Mart on 14th February 2026, delivered a truly outstanding trade from start to finish. A new UK All-Breeds record average of £13,132 was achieved — an exceptional £4,343 increase on the previous year — underlining the continued strength and demand for quality Limousin genetics.
The sale was underpinned by a tremendous show of Limousin bulls, packed with style, power, shape and natural width, attracting strong competition from a keen ringside and online audience of Pedigree and Commercial producers.

Top price for the day was Lot 128 Goldies Volcano from the Goldie family, Townfoot, Dumfries and Galloway, selling for 60,000gns. In the pre-sale show held the day prior, Volcano was first awarded senior champion and later crowned overall champion. This April 2024-born bull has F94L/Q204X myostatin. He has a Beef Value of LM47 and growth rates all in the top 10% for the breed.
Volcano is sired by the homebred bull Goldies Juggler, who features Ampertaine Gigolo Ampertaine Commander and Wilodge Tonka in his back pedigree. He is out of Goldies Redlady, a Goldies Goldilocks daughter. Volcano was bought by an undisclosed purchaser.

Judge for the day was Mr Karol Connell of the renowned Carrickmore Limousin herd based in Ireland. Karol commented “There was a tremendous show of bulls. From the outset I was looking for a Pedigree bull to go to a Pedigree herd. My overall champion has power, width and a great head. He has a lovely bit of bone to him, great legs and a great mover, a tremendous bull. My reserve is equally as good, a slightly younger bull with a typical Limousin head. The high quality of cattle on display today is a credit to the breeders.”

The Goldie family enjoyed an exceptional day in the show ring, claiming both the overall and reserve overall champion titles, with Goldies Vista standing reserve. Securing the two highest accolades at the same fixture is a significant achievement and testament to the strength and depth of the herd. In the modern Limousin era, it is only the second time a herd has achieved this distinction— following their previous success in 2020 with Goldies Olympia and Goldies Owain — a notable and memorable accomplishment.

The Goldie family went on to sell Lot 195 Goldies Vista for 55,000gns to W P Hughes and Sons of the Pabo Pedigree Limousin herd, based in Anglesey. Vista was awarded junior champion and went on to take reserve overall champion bull in the pre-sale show. This follows on from his success in the winter shows having won Limousin and interbreed champion at Stars of the Future and Limousin champion at LiveScot. He was born July 2024 and features F94L/Q204X myostatin. Vista has a Beef Value of LM47 and growth rates all in the top 10% for the breed. He is the first son of Burnbank Sergeant to be offered for sale and out of the homebred cow Goldies Raquel.

Reserve junior champion Lot 211 Grahams Virgil presented for sale by R and J Graham, Bridge of Allan, Stirling, who went on to sell for 35,000gns. Born August 2024, he has F94L/Q204X myostatin and a Beef Value of LM32. Virgil, an embryo calf, is sired by the renown AI bull Ampertaine Elgin and out of Scotchtown Esther, a Wilodge Vantastic daughter. He was bought as a half share by Messrs Baillie of the Sebay Pedigree Limousin herd, Orkney and Messrs Dick of the Ronick Pedigree Limousin herd, Stirling.

Selling for 32,000gns was Lot 188 Overthwaite Volt from Mr R S Harker, Lancashire. Volt is sired by the herds stock bull Hartsideanew Shearer and out of the homebred cow Overthwaite Ling. Born June 2024, he has a myostatin of F94L/NT419 and a Beef Value of LM31. He heads to his new home at the Haltcliffe Pedigree Limousin herd in Cumbria.

Second sale for the day for R and J Graham is Lot 210 Grahams Vito. The hammer went down at 28,000gns to JE and E Dobson and Son, Bishop Aukland, County Durham. Vito is an embryo calf, bred the same way as his pen mate Lot 211 Grahams Virgil, he is sired by Ampertaine Elgin and out of Scotchtown Esther. Born August 2024, he has double Q204X myostatin and a Beef Value of LM28.

Reserve senior champion and selling for 25,000gns was Lot 139 Goldies Viaduct from the Goldie family. Born April 2024, he has F94L/Q204X myostatin and a Beef Value of LM45, which is in the top 10% for the breed. He is sired by Ampertaine Opportunity and out of the homebred bull Goldies Littlegem, an Ampertaine Foreman daughter. Viaduct was snapped up by C V and E M Lewis of the Garyvaughan Pedigree Limousin herd, Welshpool. This rounded up a fantastic sale for the Goldies family selling three bulls to average £49,000.

Lot 201 Grahams Verrier sold for 16,000gns from R & J Graham, Stirling to R P and D L Hutchinson Ltd, Balderton, Newark.
