The Club year started off with our AGM held at The Castle at Bletchley where around 50 members voted in Mr Meirion Thomas as our new Chairman. Three places on the committee were filled by the appointments of Mr A Carr, Mr K Jones & Mrs M Heath. Mr Iain Kerr then spoke about what was happening at the Society, with a meal held afterwards.
Two Stock judging evenings had been arranged – the first one was held at the Simse herd by kind invitation of Mr & Mrs E Simms. This event was also open to the public as a charity day and was a great success with several hundred people attending. A lot of time and effort had gone into hosting us as all the cattle were tied up and guests could take part in activities from clay pigeon shooting to a mini digger driving course. The second stock judging evening was held in Wales by kind invitation of Mr A Rees to see the Tynllwyn Herd with another good turn out of people who all enjoyed the kind hospitality of the Rees family.
The Club Open Day was held at the Twemlows Herd owned by Mr & Mrs W Forrester, having been placed overall champion in the herd competition of 2009. Again another good day where we viewed powerful cows and some tremendous prospects for the future.
This year’s Club trip was to Limoges in France to see the French National Show plus two herd visits. Another enjoyable few days for every one who went along.
The Club sales in the spring were well supported with the top prices at Welshpool of £5,200 and £5,000 going to the Twemlows Herd, the top price also being champion. The sale in Welshpool this November proved to be a very steady trade with the top price of £3,800 and champion also going to the Twemlows Herd.
