Two very successful prime stock shows were held in April with thanks to both Caledonian Marts (Stirling) and Lawrie & Symington (Lanark).
A number of Scottish club members enjoyed success at The Royal Highland Show, and The Interbreed Team of Four was won by the All Scottish Team comprising of the Dicks’ Champion, Ronick Velcro, along with their stock bull Grahams Bonzo; the first prize winning and rising two year old heifer Craigallion Debutante from Mr John Thomson, Hilton of Beath Farm, Kelty, Fife; and the first prize winning heifer Grahams Davinia, the show’s 2009 Junior Champion, from Mr & Mrs R&J Graham, Airthrey Kerse Dairy Farm, Bridge of Allan, Stirling.
There was also success in the Commercial section for Messrs S Bett & C Malone, who won the Overall Supreme Championship in the prestigious Commercial cattle classes, with their Limousinsired heifer Miss Dynamite.
The members enjoyed an excellent day at the Scottish Limousin Club’s Open Day & Stockjudging event held in September by courtesy of Messrs Dick, Mains of Throsk, Stirling. There was a superb turnout in excess of 200 people with several new breeders attending, and true to form Ronick put on excellent display of cattle which were greatly admired by all on the farm tour. Master Judge for the Stockjudging was Mr Ian Nimmo of the Maraiscote Herd, Lanarkshire. The Dick Family then put on a tremendous barbecue which rounded off a super afternoon at the Throsk.
