• Top price bull 17,000gns
  • 36 bulls sell to average £9,494 (+593 on 2025)
  • 67% of bulls sell between 5,000gns – 9,000gns
  • 97% clearance rate

Commercial confidence and sustained buyer demand combined to deliver a tremendous 97% clearance at the British Limousin Cattle Society’s May Stirling Bull Sale, held at United Auctions on Monday 4th May.

In a sound endorsement of the breed’s continued commercial appeal, 36 of the 37 bulls forward found new homes to average £9,494 — up £593 on the corresponding fixture last year.

The remarkable result follows similarly buoyant trade at the Society’s Carlisle sale just two days earlier and sends a clear message: commercially relevant, correctly presented Limousin genetics remain firmly in demand.

Adding further weight to the day’s trade was the depth of the middle market, with 60% of bulls selling between 7,000gns and 9,000gns. This broad-based demand underlines buyer confidence and the breed’s enduring place within modern suckler systems.

Judge Mr Andrew Adam of the Newhouse pedigree Limousin herd.

Presiding over Sunday’s pre-sale judging was noted pedigree breeder Andrew Adam, Newhouse, Forfar, no stranger to the Stirling sale ring through the family’s successful Limousin, Charolais and Angus herds.

Commenting afterwards, Andrew said the bulls before him were “a good, consistent show of solid Stirling types,” adding that it had been particularly close between his champion and reserve selections, both of which he described as “quality bulls that represent the breed well.”

Out of a Wilodge Vantastic daughter, Goldies Gracious and by Goldies Juggler, this performance-packed bull has a Beef Value in the Top 1% of the breed and Myostatin F94L/F94L.  He heads home to Messrs C and P Thomlinson, Belstruther, Grantshouse, Duns.
