The Farmers Guardian-sponsored YLBC Stockjudging was won by fifteen-year-old Jess Simms who took the Junior and Overall titles at the annual stockjudging competition held on Friday 24th June 2011 at the Royal Highland Show. Having placed Junior Champion last year, Jess, of Hulse Farm, Lach Dennis, Northwich, Cheshire went one better this time to collect both the Noel Lusby Cup as well as the Douglas Crighton Silver Salver when representing the NW Midlands & N Wales region. The well-attended event saw competitors survey two classes of stock made up of one young bull class and one heifer class, giving their reasons for the class of bulls in front of Master Judge Mrs Kay Adam of the Newhouse Herd of pedigree Limousins, Glamis, Forfar.

The event also serves as the qualifier for the Anglo-Irish Stockjudging Competition, held annually between teams from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland which is due to be held at Moira, Northern Ireland in September. The Overall Champion also wins an overseas trip such as to Agribition in Canada or the French National Show. Joint second overall were Thomas Greenbank, aged 14, of Weary Hall Style, Mealsgate, Carlisle & Thomas Kermode, 22, of Orrisdale Farm, Ballasalla, Isle of Man both representing the North West region.

In the Team competitions, Thomas Greenbank teamed up with Chris Pears, Fellside House Farm, Caldbeck, Wigton to take the Junior title and was praised by the judge for his reason-giving which earned him the joint-top score of 41 out of a possible 50 marks. Second place in the Junior teams was shared by the Scottish team of Amy Lindsay & Sophie Harvey and the Northern Ireland duo of Phelim Savage & Adam McGookin. Winning the Senior Team title were Annabel Mason & Sarah Priestley from the North East Club; second were Matthew Wright & Harriet Wilson from NW Midlands & N Wales with Matthew Ridley & Michael Norman, representing the North West, in third.
