2011 Open Calf Show Report
The NWLCBA held their annual open calf show within Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Wednesday 1st June which was judged by Mr Drew Hyslop, of the Grahams Herd, Stirling.
The young handlers class was split into two by the age of the handlers – under 11 years and over 11 years. The winning young handler under 11 years was Thomas Nixon (10 years) with his crossbred heifer calf, Lola by Rossignol. David Miller (17 years) was the winner of the older young handler class with Fergie also by Rossignol. The Champion young handler and winner of the Capontree Cup was Thomas Nixon and the Champion calf was Lola which qualified for the Championship.
In the open classes the purebred bull class was won by George and Pat Longs Millbrow, Fivestar sired by Bonaparte and presented by Cormack McDowell Partners. Huntershall Fleur, shown by fifteen year old Alice Nixon was first in the open purebred heifer class and she went on to show Marty, a crossbred bullock; winner of the next class.

Supreme Champion was Lola, from the young handlers class, bred by S.Nixon, Southenby, Wigton and shown by his young son, Thomas.
Reserve Supreme Champion |
Reserve Supreme Champion was Marty, a crossbred bullock by Rossignol and shown by Alice Nixon and bred by S. Nixon.
