The British Limousin Cattle Society Autumn Show & Sale held at Ballymena Mart on Saturday 2nd November 2013 realised a top price of 3,400gns for the Limousin maiden heifer Robineed Hotpants bred by Messrs D & D Robinson, Irvinestown.  With a Beef Value of LM+27, this August 2012-born heifer is sired by Carmorn Copilot and is out of the homebred dam Robineed Crystal who carries Ronick Hawk bloodlines. She was purchased by local pedigree breeder D Hume, Randalstown for his Culnagechan Herd.

In the bulls, a largely commercial trade saw 22 bulls sold to an average of £2,007 for two more bulls sold on the year and a slightly higher clearance rate of 61%.

Top price was the 3,300gns paid for the Overall Supreme Champion Scotchtown Harvey bred by Messrs L & R Allison, Limavady. This February 2012-born bull is sired by Sympa and is out of the homebred Scotchtown Ember who has Fieldson Alfy and Shire Milton in her back pedigree. This stylish bull had been the pick of local Judge Miss Kim Steele-Nicholson, Antrim earlier on in the day at the pre-sale show and was sold to commercial breeder Mr John McAvoy, Portadown.

Next best price was 2,400gns for Intermediate class winner Aghadolgan Hancock bred by R Savage, Castlerock, Coleraine being another by Sympa and out of the dam Brontemoor Bobbydazzler.  This April-born bull now heads to new owner J Glenn, Lisburn.

Also selling at 2,400 gns was Heathmount Harris bred by Messrs McKinney Bros, Tobermore. An April-born bull with a Beef Value of LM+37, he is sired by Wilodge Cerberus and is out of the homebred dam Heathmount Elevation. He was purchased by W & M Orr, Ballycastle.

Another hitting the 2,400gns mark was Trueman Harry bred by H Savage & Sons, Cullyhanna. This May 2012-born embryo calf displayed a Beef Value of LM+28 being sired by Sympa and out of Hollybank Oprah when selling to C O’Neill, Donemanna.

The second-priced female at 2,500gns went to ST Neale, Downpatrick, who was holding a Dispersal Sale at the event. This was for his January 2011-born female Saulbrae Granjo. This in-calf heifer is sired by Greensons Olympian and is out of Pointhouse Dusk and now heads to the Kirleyden pedigree herd of M McKenna, Maghera.

Third-priced female at 2,200gns was in respect of Carmorn Fern brought out by C & F McAuley, Toomebridge who sold with her Homebyres Vanhee-sired heifer calf at foot, Carmorn Imelda. With a Beef Value of LM+37, the 2010-born Fern is a Haltcliffe Vermount daughter and is out of the dam Carmorn Chrisie (by Wilodge Vantastic). The outfit now heads to S & P McCormick, Cushendun.
