Securing the Supreme Championship, and a popular winner on the night, was the Limousin-cross heifer Eddie Rocket sired by Swarland Eddie, bred and exhibited by James Alexander, Randalstown. With an array of awards under her belt through the summer and winter show circuits, she tipped the scales at 650kg kilos and was hotly pursued in the sale ring with the hammer finally falling at £5,000 to the partnership of Barry Gallagher & Kieran McGee, Donegal who have their sights on further showing next year.

2013 has been a remarkable year for the Alexander Family who farm in excess of 1,200 head of stock on the outskirts of Randalstown, Co Antrim. “This is by far the biggest achievement to date for the Jalex Team, and we are just thrilled at how our cattle have performed,” commented James Alexander.

The ever-popular Ulster Housewife’s Choice Championship was won by Robert Millar, Moneymore with Duchess, a May 2012-born crossbred heifer sired by Normande Adventurer (by Ravageur). She was crowned Royal Highland Commercial Champion 2013 and purchased from Mr W Peters, Perthshire. This heifer had secured the Reserve Limousin Championship earlier on that day behind Eddie Rocket. This heifer weighed in at 570kg and fetched £4,400 to Farmview Meats, Castlereagh, Belfast.
