East Midlands Limousin Breeders Club 2013 Report

I’m pleased to say that the East Midlands Club had yet another successful year in 2013. At the February sale at Carlisle, Paul Cairns of the Plumtree Herd achieved Reserve Intermediate Champion selling for 11,000gns.

The Newark April sale is going from strength to strength with 47 bulls sold to average £3,491. The sale saw Messrs Heald equal the centre record of 8,500gns. Ian & Jenna Brown of the Lowgate Herd also sold well at 6,200gns. As always, many thanks to everyone at Newark Market for providing a superb venue and supporting the region. A special mention to David Burns, because without his help the inspection and show wouldn’t be possible.Many thanks to Paul Sykes for giving up time out of his very busy schedule to come and judge for us.

May brought around yet another sale and congratulations to the Hazard Family selling the highest priced bull Mereside Godolphin at 40,000gns.

Throughout the summer, the region’s members were very successful on the show circuits both in the pedigree and commercial sections. Nicola & Mick Hardy, Doug Mash, Darren Wharton, Mathew Hutchinson and many others supported all the regional shows very well. In the commercial show scene, a mention for Trevor Lyon & Family who had an unforgettable year winning major titles at all the big shows with a homebred heifer. Very many congratulations go to them.

October soon came around, and again a good sale for the better end of the cattle put forward at Newark saw Darren Wharton selling a cow and calf for the top price of the day at 6,500gns. A great month’s trading for the Wharton Family saw them visit Carlisle for the first time, achieving Senior and Reserve Overall Champion selling for 17,000gns to Cowporation in Holland.
