In November, we welcomed Richard Priestley back to give us an informative talk about his experiences during his stock judging trip to Agribition in Canada where he joined a multi-breed British group of young breeders to take part in the 4H International Judging Competition (the Canadian equivalent of Young Farmers). He was placed 6th out of 59 entrants which was the best a UK young breeder had ever achieved, so congratulations on such a fantastic accomplishment.

The Charolais Team won the Interbreed Quiz held in February; our thanks go to Keith Wilson our Quiz Master.

April we had an enjoyable evening at James and Sarah Cooper’s where we joined the Young Farmers District stock judging competition. Later that month was the Annual Club Show & Sale at Leyburn. Thanks go to Karl Suddes for judging.

May, we had a successful  6th Northern Limousin Extravaganza, at Skipton Auction Mart. Thanks go to Harry Esmlie for judging over 50 entries.

Overall Supreme Champion was a homebred, 12 month old heifer from Garrowby Farms, Garrowby Hiccup. She is a daughter of Glenrock Ventura bred by last year’s judge Stephen Illingworth.

The Overall Reserve Supreme Champion was a Limousin-sired commercial heifer from Julie Sedgewick and Neil Slack. John Richardson bred the 11-month-old daughter sired by Culnagechan Egbert.

The Craven Limousin Sale saw the Male and Overall Supreme Championship come from Messrs Healds’ Coachhouse Gladstone, a son of Mereside Daytona selling for 4,000gns to Keith Allen. The Champion and Reserve Champion Female also came from the Heald herd.

Big thanks go to the Mason Family for hosting a fantastic BBQ. Thank You once again to all involved ensuring another successful show and sale.

June 30th we had a visit to Garrowby Farms. This was a fabulous opportunity to see marvellous cattle in the beautiful surroundings on top of the Yorkshire Wolds.

9th – 11th July, Great Yorkshire Show. Again, we had a stand at the show, where all the donations of food were greatly appreciated. Our thanks go to Phyllis Orton and all those who gave up their time to assist her.

Well done to the Alford Family who took the Supreme Limousin Champion as well as the Interbreed Champion and Interbreed Junior Champion with Foxhillfarm Gracie.

Millington Hawk shown by the Millington Grange Estate joined Foxhillfarm Gracie to secure the Blythewood Pairs title. This pair teamed up with the Limousin Male Champion and Reserve Male Champion, Maraiscote Hiphop and Mayfields Hisgrace to secure the Interbreed Junior Group title. Maraiscote Hiphop and Mayfields Hisgrace were exhibited by Mr I Nimmo and Mr & Mrs Clark respectively.

The BBQ on Tuesday Evening was a great success with 96 people attending. Our thanks go to Andrew Mason and all others who helped.

The annual Bull and Heifer Derby was held at Nidderdale Show on Monday 23rd September. The Bull Derby Champion was Tomschoice Hero, sired by Kaprico Eravelle. Thanks go to Jim Bloom for judging.

October saw the first-ever Society Social Weekend come to our region. Over 400 people attended the Farm Walk at the Tomschoice Herd with 200 in all gathering to enjoy the Gala Dinner that evening at the Majestic Hotel, Harrogate.
