The club year started in February with the AGM where three new committee members were elected to the committee: Andrew Nicholls, Richard Osbourne and Trevor Wynne. Alison Glasgow represented the Society and gave a presentation on performance recording.

The first club stock judging event was held in June at Dunsa Farm, the home of the Chatsworth Herd by kind permission of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. This was a very sunny evening which showed off the cattle to there best potential. The master judge was Will Forrester who did an excellent job of judging the cattle and helped the young breeders with their set of reasons. A big thank you must go to Mr Ian Turner, Chatsworth Farm Manager, and his wife Carol for organising the event and providing the super beef rolls.

The second stock judging took us to the other side of the Club area to Pwllheli. This event was held by the kind invitation of Sian & Meldwyn Jones with 60 members and friends enjoying a very good sunny afternoon viewing the Garmon Herd. These cows were like peas in a pod, the cows having exceptional length and style. Master Judge for this afternoon was Alaw Jones who gave a very detailed explanation on her reasons. Sian and Meldwyn certainly know how to host a stock judging with coffee and cakes available at the beginning and a BBQ at the end of the evening.

It was Ladies’ Day at the first new Limousin Grand Prix events held at the Royal Three Counties Show in Malvern, as Foxhillfarm Gracie from Mr & Mrs M Alford, Foxhill Farm, Blackborough, Cullompton, Devon took the Supreme Championship. Judge Chris Pennie of the Sarkley Herd put up Dinmore Elegance from Mr P Dawes, Kipperknowle Farm, Dinmore, Hereford as his Reserve Overall.

Club Open Day

After the very wet weather of 2012, we finally got the chance to have an open day at the Garyvaughan Herd by kind permission of Colin and Elaine Lewis and family, the overall herd competion champion in 2012. This event was well attended with around 260 people viewing this very successful herd. Plumtree Deus, their stock bull, is really stamping his progeny well.

This year it was decided not to hold a club weekend away, so a day visit to Whinfellpark was organised with 35 people supporting this trip where they were able to see the renowned Limousin bull Dorcorsllwyn Fabio and his progeny and plenty of other well-bred cattle.

Richard Bartle judged this year’s herd competition which had a record number of herds enter – 29 in total. The results where given at the club’s annual dinner and dance held at the Boars Head, Sudbury with overall champion herd going to Will and Jackie Forresters’ Twemlows Herd.

The club held 2 club sales this year at Welshpool market , the spring sale being very well supported by club members and a good trade achieved throughout. Membership of the Club remains constant with around 100 members. A club trip to Ireland is being organised for 2014 with everyone welcome!
