The Limousin Grand Prix held at The Royal Three Counties Show at Malvern on Friday 13 June 2014 saw a one, two championship honours for the Dinmore herd of Paul Dawes, Kipperknowle Farm, Dinmore, Hereford.
Taking the Supreme Champion, under judge Mr James Hazard of the Mereside herd, was the November 2011 born in-calf heifer Dinmore Glorious, sired by Wilodge Vantastic & out of Aghadowey Alix and in-calf to Crownhead Busby. She was described by the judge as “simply an awesome heifer with power, volume and width, with a lovely head”.
Standing Reserve from the same home was the Junior Male and Overall Male Champion Dinmore Immense. Sired by Mas du clo and out of Dinmore Caprice, this 12 month old young bull was described by Mr Hazard as a “lovely young bull, full of breed character with width throughout”.
Reserve Male was Brockhurst Hardnut from Doug Mash, Chesham, Bucks, another by Wilodge Vantastic and out of Brockhurst Bolshoi. Brockhurst Bolshoi herself stood Reserve Female Champion. Already with a great show career behind her, this 2006 born cow is sired by Grahams Samson & is out of Ronick Mcainsi.
Taking the Junior Female award was Foxhillfarm Izzy from Mike & Melanie Alford being an embryo calf by Wilodge Vantastic and out of Bankdale Alice. She was also Reserve Junior Overall. Reserve Junior Female was Dinmore Idetta (Wilodge Vantastic x Carmorn Danika).
Reserve Junior Male came in the shape of Dinmore Intelligence being by the french bred Ionesco and out of Dinmore Elegance.
Against the backdrop of the beautiful Malvern Hills, tomorrow will see the Burke Trophy Interbreed Pairs judged by Kay Adam of Newhouse of Glamis, Forfar. The Limousin entry is a pairing from Paul Dawes of the French bull Diamant together with today’s Supreme Champion Dinmore Glorious.
