The NI Limousin Cattle Club’s sponsored suckled calf show and sales continue with the next visits scheduled to Hilltown and Markethill.

Hilltown took place on Tuesday 6th October and Oliver O’Hara from Ballyvalley won Overall and Reserve Overall Championship. Overall Champion went to his heifer sired by Haltcliffe Dancer,this calf weighed 400kg and went on to sell for £1100. Reserve Champion spot was attained by  his bullock which was sired by an Elite Forever Bull at 454kgs selling for £1000. Full class results Heifers 1st Oliver O’Hare, Ballyvalley, 400kg £1100, 2nd Vincent Quinn, Kilkeel, 336Kgs £800, 3rd Terry Rooney, Mayobridge, 298kgs £850:Bullocks 1st Oliver O’Hare, Ballyvalley, 453kgs, £1000, 2nd Joe Doyle, Kilkeel 392kgs £900, 3rd Joe Doyle, Kilkeel, 538kgs £1000. There was also a prize for the best pen of calves which was won by Vincent Quinn, Kilkeel.

Markethill show and sale took place on Thursday 8th October and was well sponsored by local businesses Willow Veterinary Clinic, Fane Valley and Markethill Livestock & Farm Sales. Judge Gareth Corrie, Newtownstewart put forward Peter Reel, Mullaghbawn forward as Overall Champion for his first placed heifer 352kg which sold later for £1090. Taking Overall Reserve Champion spot was Dermot Kennedy, Tassagh for second placed heifer 438kg selling for £1000. Charlie Lappin, Poyntzpass took third place in the heifer class 294kg selling £800.  Bullock class results are as follows 1st Martin Curry, Middletown, 294kg £800, 2nd Charlie Lappin, Poyntzpass 316kg £790, 3rd E A Crawford, Portadown 386kg £850.  Best pen of calves was won by Charlie Lappin Poyntzpass, 2nd G Gorman, Newtownhamilton, 3rd E A Crawford, Portadown.
