The March 2013-born Wilodge Inform from Christine Williams, T/A DA Williams, Lodge Hill Farm, Shifnal, Shropshire made 7,500gns and led the British Limousin Cattle Society Breeders’ Sale on behalf of Members of the North West Midlands & North Wales Limousin Club held at Welshpool Livestock Market on Saturday 22nd November 2014.

An embryo calf by the 50,000gns sire Wilodge Cerberus, Wilodge Inform is out of the Irish-bred dam Brookmill Catherine.  Earlier in the day, Wilodge Inform, who had a top 1% Beef Value of LM+48, had been awarded the pre-sale show Championship by the judge, Llyr Hughes who runs the Pabo Limousin herd at Fferam Uchaf, Llandeusant, Caergybi, Holyhead. Purchasing the top price was Tynbryn Farms, Tynbryn, Tregynon, Newtown, Powys.

In all, 17 bulls sold on the day to average a healthy £3,570.  The sale also saw 63 females sell to gross £122,850 including a consignment from the Glangwden Herd of CL & FE Jerman, Glangwden, Trefeglwys, Caersws, Powys.

At 6,000gns was Shadog Imperial from GL Howells, Shadog, Llandysul.  This calf, May 2013-born, who had stood 4th in his class at the 2014 Royal Welsh, was got by the AI sire Carmorn Copilot and is out of the Seigneur-sired Ironstone Figleaf.  Heading to Carmarthen, Shadog Imperial was purchased by TJ Davies, Llysynant, Llanfyndd.

The previous lot, Garyvaughan Iam from Colin Lewis, Buttington New Hall, Welshpool, took first in class four and the Overall Reserve Championship before going on to sell for 5,800gns.  This April 2013-born bull is by the 35,000gns herd stock sire Plumtree Deus and is out of the homebred Garyvaughan Crusty, a Loosebeare Voyager daughter.  Another bull heading to Newtown, Powys, Garyvaughan Iam was bought by WG Woosnam, Upper Gwestydd, Cefn Mawr.

The first prize bull in class three, Temeside Icarus, made 4,000gns when selling for VAS & TVS Corbett, The Gorther, Knighton, Powys.  Icarus came to Welshpool on the back of a strong summer show campaign that had seen him win a number of titles and place second in a top class at the Royal Welsh.  Sired by Rosecroft Dynamite, this young bull is out of Temeside Venus. Sold to Anglesey, this April 2013-born bull was snapped up H Jones, Gwredog Uchaf, Llanerchymedd.

Ashledge Ironbrew from AG Kirton & Sons, Severn Lodge Farm, Kinlet, Bewdley, Worcs, made 3,400gns when selling to BW Gittins, Rhespass Farm, Mardu Lane, Clun, Craven Arms, Shrops.  April 2013-born, this calf is by Dolcorsllwyn Caio and is out of the Goldies Osprey daughter Ashledge Ultramarine.

The third last bull in the catalogue, Camlas Iestyn, from ET Gethin, Cwmcaebitra, Sarn, Newtown made 3,300gns and was knocked down to an undisclosed buyer.    June 2013-born, Camlas Iestyn is by the AI sire Fieldson Alfy and is out of the Nectar daughter Dyfri Ember.

WP Hughes & Son, Fefram Uchaf, Llandeusant, Caergybi, Holyhead made 3,200gns when selling the April 2013-born Pabo Iestyn.  This young bull is by the French sire Bahut and is out of Derosa Vera.  The purchaser was JG Clayton, Great Brimmon, Newtown, Powys.

In the females, the sale saw a top price of 3,100gns paid for the heifer Twemlows Inca from WL & JA Forrester, Twemlows Farm, Higher Heath, Whitchurch, Shrops.  June 2013-born, and with a Beef Value of LM+50, Twemlows Inca is by Twemlows Dynamite and is out of Twemlows Fries.  Inca was knocked down to an undisclosed buyer.

From the Glangwden consignment on behalf of CL & FE Jerman, Glangwden, Trefeglwys, Caersws, Powys, the top price was 2,800gns which was attained twice.  First up was the first calver Glangwden Gracious.  October 2011-born, Gracious is by Powerhouse Emblem and is out of the Haltcliffe Ullswater daughter Glangwden Duchess.  Sold with her heifer calf at foot, Glangwden Jean by Gronw Handsome, Glangwden Gracious was purchased by RT Davies, Pengraig, New Cross, Aberystwyth, Dyfed.  Also at 2,800gns was another Powerhouse Emblem daughter, the November 2013-born Glangwden Ianella.  This maiden heifer is out of Glangwden Daniella who combines both Haltcliffe Ullswater and Jacot in her back pedigree. Purchasing this heifer was the Sarkley pedigree herd of EH Pennie & Son, Gwern-Yr-Ychain, Llandyssil, Montgomery, Powys.
