Once again Countryside Live has come round again held at the Yorkshire Showground on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th October. Due to building work going on at the showground this year, our Limousin cattle stand will be in the cattle buildings. We still require your kind donations of cakes and biscuits and if anyone is interested in helping out on the stand for a couple of hours, this would be greatly appreciated.
Bull and Heifer Derby 2015
The Bull & Heifer Derby, judged Richard Priestley and very kindly sponsored by Yorkshire Steel Building, was held on Monday 22nd September at Nidderdale Show, Pateley Bridge. Tomschoice Jasper won the bulls class for James and Sarah Cooper, with Prietec Jameson’s second from Terry, Elaine and Mya Priestley. James and Sarah Cooper also won the heifer class with Tomschoice Jenesaisquoi and second was Prietec Jellybean from the Priestley family.
This year’s annual dinner and herd competition results will be held on Saturday 7th November at The Bridge Inn, Walshford at 7.30pm. Once again tickets are £22 per person, with the choice of turkey, beef and ham. PLEASE NOTE anyone requiring vegetarian option must let Phyllis know when booking their tickets. Rooms are available but you must let Phyllis know as soon as possible in order to get them booked in time. The annual tombola will also take place so prizes will be required. Annual General Meeting
The AGM took place on Monday 5th October, with Karl Suddes continuing as chairman, Annabel Mason continuing as secretary and Phyllis Orton continuing as treasurer. However Clive Rowland stood down as vice chairman, with this place being taken over by Will Barker of Tancredgrange. We wish Will all the best for the future.
Herd Visit to Andrew Clarke’s
This was held on Sunday 23rd August, with some excellent hospitality and great looking cattle on display. A well-attended event enjoyed by all who went. A huge thank you goes to them for holding this event.
On Wednesday 22nd July at The Royal Welsh show was the Young Breeders National Stockjudging competition. A team of two seniors – Hannah Brown and Katrina O’Kane were there to represent the North East Club, with Katrina winning the competition overall. A huge congratulations to her!
