The NI Limousin Cattle Club has released a new competition for pedigree Limousin animals to promote the breed throughout the summer show season. This will be entitled Limousin Champion of the Year.

Every time a pedigree Limousin is shown at any of the local shows throughout the summer it will be awarded points accordingly.  Both male and female animals are eligible at any age, with the animal gaining the highest number of points throughout the year being awarded the title at the Club’s Annual Dinner Dance.

The following shows that are eligible for points are Ballymena, Ballymoney, Lurgan, Limavady, Omagh, Armagh, Newry, Antrim, Saintfield, Clogher and Castlewellan.

Chairman Henry Savage commented “This competition is new to the Club and it will acknowledge breeders who take the time to prepare, travel and compete in the various shows throughout the year.  We would like to show our support for local agricultural shows as this is where our best Limousin cattle can be seen by the general public.  We hope to encourage breeders to give showing a go with the chance to win this new prestigious title – Limousin Champion of the Year”.

The Club encourages all breeders to check out closing dates as some of the show schedules are now available and wish everyone the best in the 2016 show season.
