A smart Limousin heifer made a centre record price of £6,000 at the annual Kirkby Classic Show and Sale of store and show potential cattle at Kirkby Stephen Mart on Monday 12th March.
Amid one of the best show of cattle ever turned out at Kirkby Stephen the eight month old heifer by Plumtree Fantastic was tapped out as Overall Champion by Judge Mr I McNee, Misterton, Doncaster in the pre-sale show. Consigned by local cattle enthusiasts D and C E Marston, Easegill Head, the successful bidders for this classy heifer were C Williams and P Tippetts, Shifnal.
Trade throughout the day was fantastic with over 60 buyers from the length and breadth of the country in attendance. Providing more evidence of the continuing robust demand for Limousins, an exhibit, also from the Marston family, led the steer trade at £1,375.
