The Society and its auctioneers are working closely together so that the forthcoming Spring sales can go ahead as far as circumstances allow. In order to help members with breeding stock to sell, we have amended the sale rules in the database to allow ‘double entering’. This means that animals may be entered into more than one Society sale in this coming Spring season. If a sale is then cancelled, there will hopefully be the option of the other sale to fall back on. Where necessary, we will extend the sale closing date to accommodate this and breeders will be refunded the additional entry fees.

As the situation may change rapidly, we are also looking at other ways to run the sale alongside our auctioneers. This could include changes to the place and method of sale. We may need to look at a closed or ‘drop-and-go’ market, changing the format (inspection, show, sale), limiting the size of the gathering, adding sanitary conditions, getting bulls vetted at home and/or facilitating off-farm sales if needs be.

Similarly, and again in consultation with the marts, we are exploring ways in which to conduct sales in a new way such as online bidding or using video, website, social media and an ebay-style auction facility. If we possibly can, and with the help of our auctioneers, we will aim to get the sales to go ahead under Society and NBA rules.

Please keep an eye on the Limousin website and Facebook page for further updates.

Currently, the office remains open and we are taking enquiries and doing business as usual. Back-up provisions have been made for a time when this may have to change, and we will similarly keep you informed.
