On Tuesday 18th October 2022 37 bulls sold at United Auctions, achieving an 80% clearance rate. Reflecting continued strong demand for the breed, trade was up £806 on last year with an average of £5,891 for the day. The Anside Pedigree herd had a successful weekend winning Overall Male Champion, Junior and Reserve Male Champions, Intermediate Male Champion and selling to average £10,395.

Overall Male Champion for the day was Lot 605 Anside Supra presented by Mr & Mrs S Irvine, Braehead Farm, Keith, who sold for 13,000gns. Supra was a prize winner in his class at the Royal Highland Show 2022. He is sired by the homebred bull Anside Oden and out of the homebred cow Anside Oneta, who goes back to Goldies Fortress. This April 2021-born bull has a Beef Value of LM37. Supra was snapped up by Cobbleheugh Farms and driven home to Dinnet.

Senior Champion and selling for 12,000gns was Lot 581 Burnbank Sergeant from Messrs Messrs D & L Graham, This March 2021-born bull is sired by Redpaths Nobleman and out of the homebred cow Burnbank Nicola, who is sired by Dinmore Jonesy. Sergeant has an impressive Beef Value of LM49, which is in the top 10% of the breed. Sergeant was purchased in a half share between J Burnett and Sons, of the Spittalton Pedigree Limousin herd and Bruce T Goldie of the Goldies Pedigree Limousin herd.

Brought forward by Mr & Mrs S Irvine and selling for 9,000gns was Lot 610 Anside Superman who flew through a number of bids, the hammer went on the final bid from Thomas Meiklen and Sons, Lochran Farm, Fife. Superman is sired by the homebred bull Anside Orton and out of the homebred cow Anside Oprah, who goes back to Millington Dominator. This April 2021-born bull has double F94L myostatin and a Beef Value of LM39.

Selling for 8,000gns was Lot 618 Anside Sheriff, presented by Mr & Mrs S Irvine. Sheriff is sired by Anside Orton and out of the homebred cow Anside Jaffa, who goes back to Derriaghy Enfield. Sheriff was fourth place in the National Limousin Show 2022. This May 2021-born bull has double F94L myostatin and a Beef Value of LM34. Sheriff goes home to T Howden, Stanley Farm, Perthshire.

Next up was Lot 580 Clury Stifler, brought for sale by Mr W F Cruikshank, Clury Farm, Inverness, who sold for 7,000gns. He has double F94L myostatin traits and a Beef Value of LM49, which is in the top 10% of the breed. He is sired by the herds stock bull Glenrock Matrix, which they bought at Carlisle in 2018 for 14,000gns. Stifler is out of the homebred cow Clury Lisa, who goes back to Elrick Handsome. Born March 2021, he now calls Barr Farms, Meldrum Farm, Blairdrummond home.

Intermediate Champion Lot 593 Anside Shaft exhibited by Mr & Mrs S Irvine, sold for 7,500gns. Born April 2021, Shaft has a Beef Value of LM32 and is sired by the homebred bull Anside Orton. He is out of the homebred cow Anside Original who goes back to Powerful Irish. He caught the eye of Ballechin Farms heading home to Ballinluig, Perthshire.

Reserve Intermediate Champion Lot 587 Ronick Subject sold for 7,000gns from Mr R Dick, Mains of Throsk Farm, Stirling. Subject is sired by the herds stock bull Meadowrig Oddjob and out of the homebred cow Ronick Nerandah. Born March 2021, Subject has a remarkable Beef Value of LM64, which is in the top 1% of the breed. Subject was the topic of conversation for Glass and Smith, they take him home to Mill of Fowlis, Aberdeenshire.

Second to sell for Messrs D & L Graham, Mains of Burnbank Farm, Stirling, was Lot 598 Burnbank Sheriff, who went under the hammer and sold for 6,2000gns. He has double F94L myostatin and a Beef Value of LM47, which is in the top 10% of the breed. Sheriff is sired by Redpaths Nobleman and out of the homebred cow Burnbank Noreen, who goes back to Maraiscote Letissier. He heads home with W S L Muir, Upper Onston, Orkney.

On his home turf Lot 576 Burnbank Scottyboy sold for 6,000gns and was presented by Messrs D & L Graham. Sired by Redpaths Nobleman and out of the homebred cow Burnbank Lipstick, who goes back to Cloughhead Umpire. Scottyboy is a March 2021-born bull with double F94L myostatin and a Beef Value of LM48 which is in the top 10% of the breed. He now resides in Aberdeenshire with J & J Strachan, New Mains of the Towie Pedigree Limousin herd.

Also selling for 6,000gns was Lot 577 Grahams Stanley exhibited by Mr & Mrs R & J Graham. Stanley is sired by the 16,000gns Ampertaine Inferno who has Ampertaine Elgin, Glenrock Ventura and Cloughhead Lord in his back pedigree. This March 2021-born bull is out of the homebred cow Grahams Jemimah and has a Beef Value of LM31. Commercial buyers W J Barclay, Ardiecow, Fordyce took Stanley home.

The top trade for females was 2,600gns with complete clearance, achieving an average of £2,240.

Lot 632 Spittalton Sarah sold for 2,6000gns presented by J Burnett and Sons, Blairdrummond and purchased by Alice Newth, Manor Farm, Prestleigh.

Lot 635 Windsole Polly sold for 2,600gns presented by W Lawson, Auchderarder and purchased by J Dalrymple-Hamilton, Bargany Farms, Ayrshire.
