On Friday the 12th of December 2025 the British Limousin Cattle Society sale took place at Borderway Mart, Carlisle. Confidence in Limousin genetics remains high and this was evident throughout the sale with robust trade for quality females to suit all budgets.

Top price for the day was Lot 3 Grahams Unexpected selling for 20,000gns from Mr and Mrs R and J Graham, Bridge of Allan, Stirling. This December 2023-born embryo calf is sired by the world record breaking Graiggoch Rambo and out of the homebred cow Grahams Precious. This Claragh Franco daughter is a previous Limousin champion at the Highland Show. Unexpected has impressive 200 Day and 400 Day Growth rates in the top 1% for the breed and a Beef Value of LM50, which is in the top 10% for the breed. Placing first in her class, Unexpected was part of the Grahams successful show team throughout the summer and was snapped up by commercial buyers H Barclay, Park Farm, Nairn.

Next up was Lot 7 Glenrock Vogue, who sold for 15,000gns, from Mr S and Mr T Illingworth, Lockerbie, Dumfries and Galloway. Born January 2024, Vogue is sired by Glenrock Redemption and out of the homebred cow Glenrock Option, a Fenomen daughter. She was Glenrock’s show heifer this year, winning second at the Royal Highland Show and reserve overall junior champion at the Scottish Limousin Grand Prix at Turiff Show. Vogue has 200 Day and 400 Day Growth rates and a Beef Value of LM55, all in the top 1% for the breed. This stylish heifer caught the eye of buyers Messrs AD and SA Campbell, of the Crawlaw Pedigree Limousin herd, Argyll.

Judge for the day was Louise Ballantyne, who commented “My champion Goldies Victoria spice was exactly what I was looking for on the day. She is a well-balanced heifer with beautiful lines right through. She’s wide of the top with a tremendous set of plates and real depth through the second thigh. This heifer was topped off by a beautiful head that really caught my attention just giving her that bit of extra wow factor.”

Champion in the pre-sale show was Lot 32, Goldies Victoriaspice, from the Goldie family, who went on to sell for 14,000gns to an undisclosed buyer. Born May 2024, Victoriaspice is an embryo calf sired by the successful Loosebeare Fantastic. Her dam is the Ampertaine Elgin daughter, Perth Oliviaspice, who is a full sister to the record breaking Wilodge Poshspice who sold for £250,000. Bruce T Goldie, Mouswald, Dumfries and Galloway sold a total of ten females and weaned calves on the day achieving an average of £7,990.

Goldies Victoriaspice was also awarded the Sid Bowe Perpetual Challenge Trophy for the best maiden heifer in memory of the late Sid Bowe.

Also presented for sale from Bruce T Goldie was Lot 52 Goldies Veresa selling for 12,000gns to Taste Tradition Ltd, Hutton Conyers, Ripon. This September 2024-born heifer is sired by Goldies Santa and out of the homebred cow Goldies Teresa, a Goldies Melody daughter, who has previously bred bulls to 14,500gns. Veresa, who was placed first in her class earlier that morning, has also enjoyed success earlier this year taking home champion continental calf and reserve Limousin champion at Dumfries Show 2025.

Selling online for 10,000gns was Lot 21 Fairywater Vachel presented for sale by breeders Mr J A Ewing, Annan, Dumfries and Galloway. First in her class, this April 2024-born embryo calf has 200 Day and 400 Day Growth rates in the top 1% for the breed and a Beef Value of LM50, which is in the top 10% for the breed. Vachel is sired by Grahams Rooney who was sold for 28,000gns at the Carlisle May 2021 sale to the Garrowby Pedigree Limousin herd in York. She is out Drummin Kailee who has Wilodge Tonka, Ravenelle, Mas Du Clo in her back pedigree. Vachel heads home to Lanark with buyer Allan Campbell of the Strawfrank Pedigree Limousin herd.







Weaned Calves
Nine bull calves and ten heifer calves were presented for sale following the Red Ladies Derby. Bull calves achieved an average of £5,716.67 and heifer calves achieved an average of £4,504.50.

Leading the Weaned Calf sale was Lot 81, Foxhillfarm Arabella from Mr and Mrs M Alford, Cullompton, Devon selling for 10,000gns. Arabella is a January 2025-born embryo heifer calf sired by Derrygullinane Kingbull and out of the successful homebred cow Foxhillfarm Gracie, whose offspring have achieved sales of up to 30,000gns. She heads home to Dorset under the new ownership of Mr S J S Loveless, of the Sunrise Pedigree Limousin herd.

Lot 71 Foxhillfarm Admiral was also presented for sale by Mr and Mrs M Alford and went out of the ring at 8,000gns. Admiral, a March 2025-born embryo bull calf, is sired by Derrygullinane Kingbull and out of the homebred cow Foxhillfarm Gracie, making him a full brother to the aforementioned Arabella. Admiral commanded the attention of Grant Morrison of the Newtack Pedigree Limousin herd, who took him home to Grange, Keith.

Also selling for 8,000gns was Lot 74 Kaprico Aslan from Mrs C Stafford, Houghton le Spring, Sunderland. Kaprico is an April 2025-born bull calf sired by Tweeddale Lennox and out of the homebred cow Kaprico Sorrel, a Lodge Hamlet daughter. He has a Beef Value of LM51 which is in the top 1% for the breed. With a bright future ahead of Aslan, he heads home to buyers Bruce T Goldie, to reign over the Goldies herd.
