The early spring show and sale of pedigree Limousin cattle is to be held at Brecon Mart on Saturday 3rd February. Judging starts at 10am under the eye of Ian Sedgwick, Gallaber Herd, Burton-in-Lonsdale and the sale follows at midday.
Analysis of the figures of the bulls scheduled for sale indicates that over 40% have a calving ease EBV greater than the breed average and over three quarters have a beef value EBV above the breed average. Over half of the small cohort of females have a calving ease EBV greater than the breed average and all bar one have a beef value EBV greater than average.
With the momentum for Limousin cattle being driven by commercial producers and their focus on all-round efficiency and profitability such depth in the sale offers a great opportunity for buyers. Added strengths in feed efficiency, age to slaughter, and the ability to produce high yielding carcases at the target weights and grades required by the market place are also in high demand and as such, the attributes of Limousin cattle position the breed in a strong position. Consequently, the sale at Brecon is one not to be missed for pedigree and commercial buyers alike.
