- Foxhillfarm Vanity wins Supreme Championship
- Glenrock Voodoomagic wins Reserve Junior Interbreed honours
- Goldies Amazon stands reserve in Continental Beefbreeder Championship
- Limousin heifer ‘The Hangover’ crowned Commercial Champion
Despite persistent rain on Thursday 18th June, the British Limousin classes at the 2026 Royal Highland Show once again delivered a tremendous showcase of the breed, with several exhibitors enjoying championship success in what proved to be another memorable day for Limousin cattle.

Claiming the Overall Supreme Championship was Mr and Mrs M Alford, Cullompton, Devon, with the stylish June 2024-born heifer Foxhillfarm Vanity. This heifer has a Beef Value of LM37 and a myostatin of NT821/Q204X. Vanity is sired by Loosebeare Fantastic and out of the homebred Kype Interrogate daughter, Foxhillfarm Limitededition, who has picked interbreed honours herself as a maiden heifer. In addition to taking the supreme title, the Alford family secured the Broadmeadows Breeders Cup for Breeder of the Best Animal, as well as the award for the Best Animal Bred by Exhibitor, capping off a hugely successful day for the Foxhillfarm team. Sincere congratulations to all involved for their additional success later in the week lifting the Interbreed Championship with their senior Aberdeen Angus bull Wensleydale Black Voltage.

Presiding over the judging was Mr Gareth Corrie from the Drumhilla herd in Northern Ireland. No stranger to success in the show ring, Gareth himself recently claimed the Junior Limousin Championship and Junior Interbreed Championship at Balmoral Show earlier this year, as well as being co-owner of the 2026 Royal Highland Show Commercial Champion, crowned just a few hours earlier! Coming from a strong butchery and beef breeding background, he had the task of sorting an outstanding display of Limousin cattle from across the UK.

Reserve Overall Champion honours went to Messrs S and T Illingworth, Dumfries and Galloway, with the impressive October 2024-born heifer Glenrock Voodoomagic. Having first topped her class, she went on to secure Reserve Female Champion, Junior Female Champion and Overall Junior Champion. Later in the week this heifer enjoyed further success claiming Reserve Junior Interbeed champion, culminating a tremendous week for the Illingworth family. This follows hot on the heels of winning the Scottish Grand Prix at Stirling show the previous Saturday. Sired by the homebred Glenrock Stillgame, a Wilodge LJ son and is out of the homebred cow Glenrock Redruby, a Sympa daughter. She has F94L/NT821 myostatin and an outstanding Beef Value of LM59, placing her within the top 1% of the breed.
Reserve Junior Female honours went to R and J Graham, Stirling, with Grahams Vavavoom. She is an Ampertaine Elgin daughter and out of the homebred cow Grahams Ruth who won the overall interbreed championship at the Royal Highland Show in 2023. Born November 2024, Vavavoom has a Beef Value of LM31 and NT821/Q204X myostatin.

The Macgas Trophy for Best Cow was awarded to Messrs Jenkinson, Penrith, Cumbria, with their homebred January 2020-born cow Whinfellpark Rebecca. Sired by stock bull Whinfellpark Lomu and out of the consistently productive Ironstone Lavender whose progeny have sold to 24,000gns, Rebecca has a Beef Value of LM48, which is in the top 10% and has F94L/NT821 myostatin.

In the male championship, the Goldie family, Dumfries and Galloway, enjoyed a memorable victory with the January 2025-born bull Goldies Amazon. Earlier tapped out as Best Junior Bull, he went on to secure the Overall Male Championship. He has a Beef Value of LM53, firmly in the top 1% of the breed and has double F94L myostatin. Amazon is sired by Foxhillfarm Ourbest and out of Goldies Joyeuse, an Ampertaine Foreman daughter. The Goldie family also enjoyed success in the continental Beefbreeder championship with Goldies Amazon picking up Reserve Champion honours. This follows a highly successful spring sale season, having claimed both Overall Champion Male and Reserve Overall Champion male honours at the Society’s February and May bull sales in Carlisle.

Reserve Male Champion and Reserve Junior Bull honours went to Messrs Jenkinson with Whinfellpark Avancii. Born in March 2025, the Sarkley Tyndall son out of Whinfellpark Tabitha combines excellent figures with tremendous potential, carrying a top 10% Beef Value of LM44 and F94L/Q204X myostatin.

Further accolades for the Limousin breed came in the commercial section, where a Limousin heifer The Hangover, owned by Andrew Ireland and JCB Commercials and bred by Brian Harper of the Greenwells herd, claimed the overall commercial cattle championship.
Although umbrellas and waterproofs were very much the order of the day, the quality of cattle presented in the Limousin section once again highlighted the strength and depth of the breed at Scotland’s premier agricultural event.
The British Limousin Cattle Society extends its sincere thanks to all exhibitors, supporters and organisers whose efforts helped make the 2026 Royal Highland Show another fantastic event.
